Fuggin clicking... and it isnt the air check valves :(
I must be one picky son of a bitc#, cuz I REALLY dont like the supposed drivetrain noise.. you know the clicking that is heard only in overdrive with the engine under load. Its NOT a header leak or exhaust leak. (After gettin a new engine the mechs at the dealer had to put my headers and everything back on with air tools, I couldnt budge the damn bolts if i wanted too.) It isnt the air check valves, cuz i did the restrictor mod and then i just blocked the whole damn thing of.. still clicking. And got the nice SES light to boot lol. So i guess i just need to stop bein an old man bout it and accept it as a tradeoff for power? Just dont like my car sounding like ****, as i cruise around in OD. Blah

Sounds like you got bent pushrods Sean. I have had the same thing happen to my car.......Slapped the rev limiter one day and popped on an SES light, clicking came shortly after. I pulled out the pushrods the next day to find 3 of them bent to ****.
If you wanna check em i'll be glad to help ya out. Let me know, later

Yeah i was thinking that would be the case however, VERY unlikely. Same clicking that was present on the last engine before it went to ****, and when the new engine was put in, it clicked after i drove it off the lot. Bent pushrods on two engines one being brand new and the car being an A4. Nahhhh, I guess wierder things have been known to happen though. I think i am just being too picky though, its prob just amplified drivetrain noise through the aft headers and alum block. I guess i need u to sit in my car and listen to it, then u can tell me what u think is up <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0">

OH yeah and now SES lights yet.. could u hear the clicking at idle?? I mean the car sounds fine at idle and under accelleration, its just slow accelleration in OD that brings the clicking on..

Hmmm not sure I'm getting your description of the sound right, but if you ONLY get it under light accel in OD, could it be pinging? The headers may have leaned you out, or you may have damaged an O2 in the process. Just a thought, pinging doesn't really sound like clicking but *shrug*. I think any clicking sound like that would be plainly audible at idle.
Weird.
