Don't hate me.. Need cam help, in a bad way...
Sorry, I know some are getting VERY tired of this question; but I need help with selecting a cam...
I am looking for a good cam that will work well with my mods PLUS an LS6 intake, and Hooker lontubes. I want a cam with a good lope to it, but not too much to sacrifice power. I have found that there is more of a variety of cams than I thought. What is the difference between two cams with the same specs, with a different manufacturer? PLEASE HELP!!!! And by the way, I have checked the cam usage stats link.
thanks in advance,
Kevin

If you are looking for a good lope cam that will work with nitrous, I would go with a Comp Cam 224/228. You will need to bump your rev limiter but no other programming is needed...but since you are a 6 speed you shouldn't have any problems. If you want further info or help with picking a cam, I suggest calling Dennis or JB at IRS. The phone number is (888) 469-RACE.

Zangel,
Thanks for the information. I would like to get a cam that will work just as good on the motor as it does on nitrous. I don't use the nitrous if I don't need to, I don't want to take and unnecessary chances. Besides, it costs too much to fill that 15lb. bottle...LOL
Any other opinions???
Thanks,
Kevin

Actually, that is why the 224/228 cam is ideal for what you have and/or what you are looking for. This cam will work well with both applications!

224/228, .581/.588, 114.
I love this cam! Call IRS. JB and Dennis helped me with my cam. They have a really good package price, too.

check out the thunder 224 114 cam. someone ran 11.50 with it.
if you are not gonna run more than 150 hp of juice you dont really need a dual pattern cam. also the intake becomes a restriction at higher rpms which somewhat negates the need for a dual pattern cams.
it is more important to have free flowing exhaust.
if you want a cheap rough idle cam that works good with nitrous there is always the gm hot cam. it is a bit weak n/a though.
hope this helps a bit.

Leon,
I have looked at the hotcam, but I have heard that there are better options out there. I have the SLP Loudmouth exhaust, and I am going to get the LS6 intake and longtube headers, so I don't think the intake and exhaust will be a problem.
Thanks for the input,
Kevin

That would be me. Needless to say, I really like this cam. I previously had the B1 cam and I feel this cam is more driveable and I know it makes a little more power. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.

Jason,
When you say "more driveable" what do you mean? Is it easier to drive because it doesn't have such a lope to it? What are your exact bolt ons? What is your shift point and redline??If you want, you can E-mail me at ss_silver2001@yahoo.com
Thanks,
Kevin

Also Jason, which Thunder cam would you have used, had you planned on spraying a 100-150 shot?
