MMS 229 v2.1 is in
well haven't really "tested" it yet but so far so good. Found idle immediately with the factory 800 rpm idle speed. No surging or anything whatsoever. Its definatley choppy but nothing that I'd consider severe haha. Might lower the idle speed some just to see what I can do for idling
There is a definate loss in torque below 3500 rpm but in the low gears that is counteracted with my mechanical torque (BIG GEARS)
LS1edit is due to arrive tuesday sometime, I'll spend some time wednesday playing with it some
I'll keep you all informed on track times (hope to go next weekend )

Its not that I don't think its far off, its that I don't have the limiter for this cam yet. I'm still stuck at 6600 rpm from HPP3. This cam don't really peak until 6800.
As for idle...its quite a bit choppier than the B1 but its definately not as choppy as Scotts (V2.0)

Brian, are you sure about that? Peaks at 6800??
That would have you shifting over 7000

yeah...according to mike morgans dyno he posted for a cam only 229, it peaked about 6800.
I'm planning on 6800 shifts right now until my new motor is ready

Re: MMS 229 v2.1 is in
well...didn't have a vacuum gage handy before the swap so I went ahead and got the MAP and Barometric readings from Atap for the 229
vacuum: 30.2 (barometric) - 15.9 (MAP) = 14.3 inHg
IAC pintle: 79-81
idle speed: 773-832 rpm

I can see that cam holding to the high 6k range but I don't see you peaking at 6800 with a cam only setup. Would love to see some dyno graphs when you get it all worked out.

Fireball, I would be curious to see your dyno results. What valvesprings are you using? Let us know when you get some track times.

At 6900 motor lost 20 hp, peak torque is at 4800, this is a pretty common power band and shouldnt really be that hard to utilize.

This was with no cats also so i think that would raise peak slightly also.

This is why I was saying peak at 6800. My plan is to set my shift light to 6800 and I usually nail it within 100 rpm to my shiftlite. so 6800-6900 shifts should work.

thats why I did this...its not what everyone else has done. dyno testing will let me know where it peaks
