Nick i have built many mustangs. The last one we had was my wyfes daily driver and we only ran it once. This car was a 90 lx with a stock 112000 mile short block. The list of parts was simple.Twisted wedge heads, cobra intake,70 mm tb,30# injectors,1 5/8 full lenght headers, flowmasters, pulleys, and all the other small boltons.the cam was a crower part#512 specs 224/226-496/512".This car ran a 11.9*@ 115.* with no traction all the runs that day were all over 112 mph.All the parts were out of the box. {no port work} i sold the car to a guy and he asked me to put a blower on the car so I put a s trim with a cooler and it made 630 rear wheel on 16#.We have used that same came in many other cars and even a lightning and it made power in everything we have used it in.Hope this helps .

Is your cousin worried about emissions? I currenly have the e303 cam, and all I can say is that it passes emission testing. It does seem to lack power of a big cam, but it passes.... To help with the e303 cam I am running TFS trick flow heads, with a ported cobra intake, 1.7 rockers, c-4 with converter, 4.10's, 150 shot of nitrous, headers with X-pipe, 73mm MAF, 70mm TB, and a whole lot of other stuff in a full weight convertible.....

E303 with some 1.7 rockers to give a little more lift is a good choice. Excellent drivability and can pass a sniffer test.

Hey guys,
My cousin has a mustang with a '94 GT engine and he is having a hard time with cam selection. Here is what he has.
-'94 GT 5.0 L engine
-GT-40 aluminum heads
-BBK cold air intake
-75mm BBK throttle body
-75mm Pro-M mass air meter calibrated for 24 lb. injectors
-GT40 upper and lower intake
-LT headers
-and some other misc bolt ons
He is looking for good mid range power (not to spin the engine to the sky) and enough streetability to be a daily driver (it is not a daily driver though). I Know this is LS-1 Tech but I have one, and I am kinda interested in cam specs for Mustangs, I would not think that they respond all that differently to a cam than an LS-1.
TIA
-Nick

my car is as fast as it needs to be
I am actually going to buy me a mustang just to see how slow they really are..... I can't say ford is actually ****... they just aren't what everyone think they are...... I dislike fords mainly b/c everyone that has them lie and say the cars are faster than they really are..... it also makes me mad when they say the cars are bone stock when there is proof that a stock Mustang Gt 5.0 WILL NOT run 13's from the factory on street tires, add some slicks and a full throttle clutch dump and you might could get some 13.80's out of an exceptionally fast 1
I'm sorry if I have rubbed you wrong by chance take a look at the missletoe hanging from the seat of my pants

Sorry if i took you the wrong way but i tell the truth.I have no reason not to.Get yourself a 87 to 93 lx 5 speed. Get some 26/8 slicks. Remove the front sway bar/put a tube from the maf to the headlight hole {ram AIR} set the timing at 16 to 17 base or 32 to 34 total/ and romove the belt {track only } and on a good day with a good driver and some traction a car with 2.73 should run 13.6 to 14.0 and a 3.08 car should run 13.3 to 14.0 . I have done this with 5 or 6 cars over the years.Dont get me wrong i love my ws6 and my turbo buicks but you can have alot of cheap fun with mustangs.Trust me I have had 21 of them.

He has the record of 13.4, and has a best pass of 13.1! I'm not shitting you. He's got headers, all of the intake stuff he needs done and I think gears and slicks. The only time he has ever been in side the engine is when they had to tear him down after he won the record. I think the car had over 180,000 miles on it when he ran the 13.4, and has over 200,000 on it now. It is absolutely amazing that the car is a Ford and is that fast. He is a definate car guy though, he's the head Lamborghini tech at a exotic car dealer. He gets to drive Lambos and even an occasional F40 now and then, guy has one of the coolest jobs ever.
I'm going to see if I can find the record somewhere just to prove that this is no B.S.

Oh yeah...and full exhaust, full bolt on Mustangs with 3.73's or 4.10's and a 5-speed on slicks is a 12.90's car all day long.

If emissions are not a problem , the b303 cam is a perfect choice with 1.7 rockers . It has strong mid range and pulls all the way to redline ... Im not a big fan of the "e" cam . His best bet is to go with a custom ground camshaft !

Anyone have the specs on the e303 and the b303(Lift, duration, LSA?) Who makes these cams? Driving manners (bucking, stalling...)
BTW: It is a M5 with 373's and 1.7 roller rockers. The LTs are BBK.
Thanks for the input

Niphilly.Billy C is right the B 303 is a better choice than the E303 if emissions is not a concern. But trust me the crower is awsome. It has a decent idle and drivability but makes more power. His combo with a s trim and 38# injectors with the crower cam will make 450 rwhp on pump gas all day long and 300 to 320 without the blower .If you dont beleve me i will get you in touch with a good freind of mine.he can give your cousin some advice on witch way to go.His car is a 306 ci. 550 lift hyd roller {94 cobra} street car that is 3400 lbs and with a blower has gone 9.03 @153 and with a coged blower and intercooler has run 8.60@ 160 but that was not legal for his class.I will try to find you the link to some videos of his car. By the way this is john from Smith mountn.lake

Hey John,
I didn't put 2 & 2 together. How are you? Gotten a lid or exhaust fot the WS-6 yet? I am jealous those '01 put down some nice numbers (mine put down a measly 305/318). I am working in SC until May but I am looking forward to getting back to VA and going to Freddy's a couple of nights. I will probably be there with my cousin, we will have to meet up. Thanks for your help man. BTW who makes the 303s? Custom grind? Lunati? Comp?
Take it essy,
-Nick

THe 303 cams suck. Because the ford heads do not flow as well as LS1's at low lifts, you are going to need a quicker lifting cam than the ones we use in the LS1's.
The optimal lobe profile will not be found in a box cam on the ford side. Talk with Ed Curtis and let him know the combo and the goals.
Go over to www.corral.net and find Ed Curtis ask him for cam suggestion.

I too am a big believer in the #512 crower. I ran 11.90's at 115 N/A consistant with that cam and a best of 10.63 at 126 with a 150 shot and transbrake with that same cam on a stock bottom end 302 with j heads. It idles great, has incredible mid range and will pull 6300 rpms no problem. It is a great cam. Install it 4 degrees advanced and run 15 degrees initial timing and you will love it.

Nick i didnt think you knew it was me.Get in touch with me this spring when you go to fast freddy's we can hang out.Ford motorsport makes the 303 cams and HP guru is kind of right they are not as good as most of the split patern cams out there But i have put together some decent running mustangs with them.My t/a ran a 13.1 @108 last friday night. These times were 100% showroom stock right down to the air in the tires. However a local mustang peckerhead has forced me to order a cam and heads and headers and well you get the idea.About a month ago i bought new wheels and tires for it but the rear wheels {17/11 torque thrust} are on back order so as soon as they get here i can put them on with the 315/35=17 nitto drags.Should be a good summer.BTW 305 rwhp is not measly.
