Default New thoughts on my low H/C dyno numbers

I made a post a few weeks ago about how I add TEA stage 2 Heads, CompCam in my signature and TTS Headers. The car only pulled 362rwhp & 356rwtq, I was expecting something more in the 380-390rwhp range....The baseling of my car with basic bolts-ons was 298rwhp & 320rwtq which was pretty low for my mods but the car ran 108mph in the 1/4th...

Since that first dyno I messed with the maf and put the Hpp3 tunning in and pulled 368.8rwhp & 367.3rwtq.....This is with TTS cats, stock programming and no ls6 intake manifold or pulleys.....

That is a increase of 70.5rwhp & 46.9rwtq which seems like a pretty good increase, what do most people see in gains after H/C/headers?

I was first disspointed with my numbers, but after thinking wouldn't it be reasonable to pick up that 30rwhp hp that i was hoping for if I added the ls6 intake, pulled the cats, and got the computer reprogramed???? Should I be worried? Any thoughs would be appricated...

thanks

The LS6 intake would most likely add about 8-10rwhp maybe even 15 on a H/C car. Tuning could add a good bit more too, depends who does it. Check your timing, maybe you are getting some knock retard. If you are getting knock retard make sure your exhaust isn't rattling or rubbing anywhere. If you are running a Energy Suspension poly tran mount, maybe try a 1LE mount instead(some tuners are claiming the tough polyurethane mount will transmit too much vibration. If none of these are present then try some 104 octane fuel mixed with some 92-up.If you still have the retard try one of Tony's(nineball) knock-out boxes.
Good luck

A lot of guys are seeing RWHP numbers in the 390-430 range. At least thats what they are posting, and the tuners are claiming on THEIR dynos. I wouldn't be so concerned with dyno numbers though. Check its performance by MPH at the track.

Get rid of those cats man, I picked up 11rwhp and 21rwtq when I put the off roads on my FLP headers, I guess that proves that cats suck, and I'm still a stock headed car...

MY H/C job with LS6 intake and custom tunning got me a 387 and 391.5 on two separate dyno pulls on my A4. My base line was 318 with a 3200 vig. I took was disappointed that my HP was not 400 or above. But I have moved on and have been rewarded with some fast track times. Current best is 11.72 full weight care except spare tire and jack on Nitto's tires.
Best MPH is 117.75 with cutout opened and skinnies on front. I think with fine tunning my car may dyno 400 HP with someone who knows what they are doing. I don't know how to fine tune yet, but have experimented with different mods to increase my times at the track. I am giving you my situation to maybe assist with yours. Hope this helps. Kent.

At one point I was running 12.3X with a tune similair to yours. On ATap I only had 20 degrees of timing. I sent the computer back out to Ed Wright, he was awesome to deal with. My only other change to the car was skinnies up front and I ran an 11.98 without changing anything else! A good tune means A LOT!

The TTS cats flow worse than the stockers. JPR flowed mine somewhere under 300cfm @ 28"of H2O

Wizkid also did a flow comparo HERE

You should find that the cats and LS1 Intake are robbing you of the HP you should have

That's better than my 396 LT4 that cost me over 20k to have built. Mine is only pulling 353RWHP. It may be lower than some others, but, it is higher than alot. I wouldn't be dissapointed with your output for what you have.

Stop.

Stop looking anywhere else for your problems.

You have 3 degrees of knock and only 20 degrees of timing at WOT?

To put it bluntly....THAT SUCKS.

Fix your timing issues.....the motor will suprise you with the power that you are as of yet "leaving on the table".

Dont look at adding another mod, wondering whats wrong, are my numbers "OK". ...Just fix your timing issues.

Good luck.

Maybe change the pcv and add a fuel filter in the pcv line? I did that and got rid of 4 degrees of KR.
