Cam gas mileage and driveability TSP 231/237
Cam gas mileage and drivability on a TSP 231/237 cam. I want to know from anyone that has had a similar cam. What the gas mileage was like and how was the drivability. I am thinking of installing this cam and selling the lingenfelter cam that I currently have installed since it is more of a stealthy cam or would be better used for a supercharger set up. Any and all input is good. I just want to know because I use my car as a daily driver and need something reliable that is not going to be shutting off every stop light and not going to kill me at the pump if I drive normally most of the time and floor it when I got to the track.
Thanks for the help

You know a couple years ago I had one in my SS and I loved it.My neighbours hated it. It never stalled at lights. Its really not that big that you need to worry about it. Plus the tuning out there is even better than when I did it. I say do it and dont look back, it screams like a nascar especially with the GMMG and LT's and does make the power up higher in the band. If you were driving in traffic for hours every day for months on end it might get on your nerves after a while but you would have to drive it alot. About the mileage it definately declined over stock but I think I got around 20-23 HWY mpg if not mistaken and 12-17mpg in town all depending.

Thanks for the help and thats a nice C6 if I could afford one that would definately be my preference to. I am going to go ahead and get his cam and install it. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Oh yeah bye the way I also had 4:10's . You will be happy you got them. I am now looking back at some old notes and I actually got better highway mileage than that...Sometimes up near 26mpg. Hope it all goes good for you.

I ran a similar cam Comp 232/236 .595 .601 114 in my stalled A4 with bolt on's....LS6 heads etc...
I still got 19-20mpg hwy... alot less in the city... and my neighbors hate me as well..
It all depends on that right foot...
Good luck..
Currently having a G5X....? put in my car... My neighbors will probably protest!!

I thought you could use the 918 with NP on this cam. If you are going to upgrade to dual springs you might want to lok in to the thunder racing trak cam better torque and you wouldnt have to get the gear because of the HP under the curve just an idea. Those dual springs are expensive to.

i run 918's on a 233/239, .598/.605 cam. The car drives really well...minimal surging/bucking. I still cruise 60mph in 6th gear, sometimes even less. I average 18-19mpg combined city/highway...I have gotten 26mpg on a road trip untuned though..

I run a similar cam TR 230/237 .600 lift. 112 LSA. Upgraded springs are a must. I dont have any problems with drivability. I get 18-20 mpg around town and about 26 on the highway.

i run comp cams (not from TSP) 231/237 .585/.595 112 cam with patriot stage 2 (59cc)heads with a 3.42 stock gear...i get some bucking/surging rolling through parking lots and things at under 1500 RPMS but nothin really bad...when i got it tuned it made right at 440 RWHP and a lil bit over 420 RWTQ so its a TQ monster...it runs low 7's in the 1/8th with stock gear....and about the MPG, im not really sure down to the mile but i can tell u it gets better gas milage than my Daily Driver Auto V6 Grand Am
BTW, for u guys running a 4.10 gear with this cam...do u wished u would have stayed at 3.73 or higher?I talked it over with my performance guy and he said that 3.42's were a good match for this cam, but if i was lookin to change he wouldn't go with anything over a 3.73 because of how much TQ this cam this car makes

I had 4:10's and would never change back.
I still clearly remember finishing the gear install with a helper at midnight or later, and cold starting it , letting it idle for a few minutes to warm up as it was getting near winter, and how it was snapping and cracking at the moon with that gmmg exhaust and porch lights all over my crescent turining on ,one by one !!!
