Default cutting pistons

ok i have seen alot of treads on flycutting the pistons. does anyone know the measurements you need to cut if you are pulling the pistons and sending them to a machine shop? i have the ms4 cam and the ls6 stage one heads with the bigger valves.

thanks

If the pistons were comming out of the motor id just replace them with forged ones and be done with it. Forged piston kits can be had for under 500 bux.

My guess is this guy is confused and thinks he needs to remove the pistons to have them flycut. Which you do no need to. Hope that helps

Just need a head with removed hardware. I think you are right. He must think that. I don't know if he knows that a fly cut is just some eyelash reliefs vs. taking an entire layer off the top of the piston.

lol, plasma cut pistons....haha, now that is asking for a problem!

Im gonna stick up for the guy... when you see aftermarket pistons getting notched with valve reliefs, they do so on a CNC. Sadly I do not know the measurements, and im sure it would take some careful micing up and a lot of math go get it right.

I will agree with the others that for the cost and effort of taking the slugs out, might as well look into replacing with some forged internals. You can find forged pistons, rings and rods for under 800 if you know where to look.

I Know That You Can Fly Cut The Pistons In The Motor. I Don't Want To Buy The Tool Also I Wanted A Shop To Do It And I Cant Find Anyone That Would Do It I Just Dont Feel Comfortably Grinding On My Pistons. That Is Why I Am Going To Get The Bottem Half Done At A Shop 383 Stroker With All Callis Compstar Parts. Why Not Go Big! I Will Kick Myself If I Don't Do It Now Why I Can Afford It.
