OK...I thought I had a valvetrain problem. After pulling the passenger side valve cover and checking p-rods, rockers, and springs, I buttoned it all up and fired it up. Still had the tapping noise...sounded just like...an exhaust leak.
Which it was!!!
I put my hand underneath the passenger side header and was blasted with hot air. Underneath the first primary (front of the engine) on the passenger side on my headers is a small tube/feeder type extension off of the primary. It must have been plugged at some point. Could this be my EGR hookup? I have my AIR tubes hooked up since I do run cats sometimes..
My EGR was blocked off by Thunder Racing and the PCM programmed for it...
I need owners of '98 - '00 FLP's to confirm for me that this is indeed the EGR hookup I guess. Or if they have such a tube/opening/whatever...again - it is under the first primary about ~ 6 inches off of the head on the underside of the primary.
Thanks in advance!! Big relief for me if I just have to have that thing welded shut again...

Jeff,
Give me a call at the shop tomorrow. (877) 516-7223. Sounds like the EGR pipe, there was a blockoff on it. Either the blockoff is missing or the EGR pipe broke.

Thanks Geoff...Im pretty sure the EGR pipe is OK as I can see that blockoff down underneath the pass. side headers. This would just be where it fits into the headers I guess...hopefully not a big deal to block it off again.
Ill give ya a call in the morning...maybe snap a digi-pic of the situation if needbe...

And the tube was sitting down by the motor mount LOL...I even saw it earlier (but couldnt quite see the broken end of the tube - just the blockoff plate)...
Anywho...Ill call ya Geoff to figure out what's best...weld the tube back on or just plug the hole good since Ill never run EGR again.

give the pirates a call and we can weld it up for you....I did the same to mine w/o any problem. Only thing is it will ruin the coating around the welded area....I posted on MOFBA as well.....

LOL Jeff, my passenger side Grotyohann AIR tube fell off one day after making wide-open throttle runs. I thought I had blown the motor up! We ended up finding the AIR tube in the crossmember. I just pulled the header off and had the tube welded back on. No problems since.
I'm glad you found the problem.

Just to wrap this thread up, I took the car to my welder and he said that he could get to it. So...it should be welded shut tomorrow evening without having to pull the header. Woo!
Thx for the help folks.
