Thunder 227/227 111lsa.....Me thinks I am gonna try it
I think I am gonna give it a shot. I would love the tq of the 111 lsa and the bottom end saving ~6200-6300 shift points. With the lobe family that Thunder uses, this cam will be plenty streetable with a lil tinkering.
I am gonna do it. I ain't skeerd

I'll be very interested in your results. I just made a post on a very similar topic. Will you be getting this cam soon, or are you in the 'planning' phase?

Has any one went 108LSA's on these cars yet? I'm sure with computer tuning idle can be OK.
Midrange TQ charge should rock.

Josh, I'm slightly curious now. I remember talking to you about this idea before anyone really mentioned reverse split cams. You told me if I remember right that making a bigger intake duration and/or lift than exhaust wouldn't really help. You only can flow so much, and it wouldn't work very well. Why the change of mind?

Ooops... I thought you put 227/224, sorry about that. But if you did mean 227/224 then please tell me why your thoughts have changed.

Re: Thunder 227/227 111lsa.....Me thinks I am gonna try it
please let us know. From wht I have been reading and researching, I'm a cam idiot this appears to be a cam I have been dreaming of. Maybe even on 110. I would love a mean sounding idle, a ton of torque (I have a fat-*** convertible, and don't want to go much above 6200-6300.
What about a 108?
What heads? I am planning on keeping mine stock.
Please let us know.

Senior folks at Comp were not too excited about LSA's below 110.
I ran 236/240//111 and a 228/228/111 last year in my stock 346. Both idled fine with programming. BradWS6 ran a 111 LSA too. Fastech ran a 110 LSA two years ago.

Well since comp wasn't keep on 110LSA, need to try something like a super tight 104-106LSA.
Something with short duration, quick ramps and a tight LSA should be able to produce nut busting cyllinder pressures.

Azzhauler, this cam will be in the car within the next 3 weeks or so. I am in the middle of gathering parts to rebuild my shortblock, along with a few little additions to the top end of the motor . I will glady post how it works for me!
Jason, there typing is correct. I meant 227/227 .
The cam isn't listed on they're site, but it can be gotten .
Guys, I do not really recommend going any lower than a 111 lsa with these cars. Maybe in a 422+ ci motor, but any 346 motor should stick with 111+ IMHO.
I'll post the results ASAP....

Re: Thunder 227/227 111lsa.....Me thinks I am gonna try it
LSA and overlap are not exactly the same.
For example:
take a cam that is
220@.05", 114LSA, .550" lift
cam of same lift profile with
224@.05", 114LSA, .550" lift
Will have increased overlap by more than the 220 cam as:
220@.05", 112LSA, .550" lift.
A 230@.05" cam with 112LSA will have more overlap on similar lobe profile with 224@.05" and 108LSA.
It all depends on what the motor wants.

Re: Thunder 227/227 111lsa.....Me thinks I am gonna try it
Im happy to see Thunder coming out with a bigger cam. I love my 224 112, but when I do heads I'd like to go a little bigger. Interested to see what happens.

I think the 228/228 111LSA XE-R cam would be sweet too Forget about emissions though haha

Like Jason has said, the Thunder cams use similar lobes to that of the XE-r cams. I would much rather run something similar and not have to worry about machining and modifying for double springs when I can just run some 918's and call it a day .

What do you guys think?
Thanks, Chris
