Will the stock seats be OK to recess that far-- this is the amount I need to achieve Piston-to-Valve clearance... what do you think?

Have you thought about just notching the pistons? 28 thousandths is not much and with the proper tool its very easy.

It would be much more expensive to buy the cutting tool, especially since it would only be used once--

LS1derfull--
I just went to Isky online, and according to the website---it looks like their notching tools are divided, though I'm not exactly sure how-- tell me if I'm right-- here's the link:
http://www.iskycams.com/CGI/Search_1...ategory=171&ma ke=0&opt=id&do=Try+Again
is the 5/16ths piece for $37 the shaft, and the parts below the actual cutters?
May seem stupid, but I'm not sure. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />
Thanks-- Matt

If that's from stock then it's no big deal. You can sink the exaust valve more and not kill flow like you would on the intake side.
