Pretty sure they are. I had some 4.8 cores that I was home porting the only discrepancy I could find was the valve sizes being smaller like the 5.3 heads not sure if they are even smaller yet or if the bore is smaller.
Either way its fairly cheap to open a chamber to match the bore and valve sizes shouldn't be a concern as you should be revalving the head any way for better flow performance gains.

I am almost sure that the heads are the same. The 5.3 and the 4.8 have the same bore so there should
be no difference. The 5.3 and the 4.8 use the same block.
I recently ordered the comp 212/218 cam, it won't be here until next friday. I was wondering how you like it, does it have any low end, does it idle smoothly and sound like stock, and do you shift at 6000 rpm? I am going to install it on my 5.3 along with ported Z06 heads in about a month.
Thank you.

I was over at Thunder Racing today and we installed a 212/218 cam in a 2000 Silverado with a 5.3. The truck baselined at 246RWHP with mid length headers, ory and a cutout. The cam picked up a solid 44RWHP to 290. Jason should be posting the graphs tonight...

I would love to hear the sound bite! I hope it doesn't lope to much. I work at a dealership and would like to keep my warranty <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> . Thank you for all the information.
