you didnt give me an email address (mividalowcar) But to answer your question the internal parts do differ. The C5 has a different cam than the f bodies, the crankshaft is the same, as of 01-02 the F bodies have the LS6 intake, previously they had the LS1 intake. Does that answer your question?

June 11th 1996 GM holds a press conference to talk about the new GEN III engine.
August 29th 1996 the first pre-pilot C5 rolls off the newly retooled Bowling Green assembly line.
Sept 3rd 1996, Bowling Green workers begin assembling the first C5's for production.
The 1997 Corvette is unveiled to the press Nov. 1996.
The first C5 wasnt available for sale to the public until March 7th 1997.
