Default Boring Stock Aluminum Blocks

I was wondering if a stock, 3.89" bore, block be over bored? Say like 0.030" or 0.040" over? TIA

The factory spec on 2000-up blocks is .010 overbore, but I do know for a fact that some blocks can be taken out more than that if they are sonic tested and shown to be thick enough in the critical areas... I had a .050 over aluminum block for a short time.

Since the block and 2 pistons had to be replaced anyway, I just decided to go ahead and do a 4.100" bore motor this go around...

I had a hard time with it at first too... It seems to be a little more commong than a lot of people would suspect, though. You just have to find the right block.

Comp "R" lifters were in the old motor.

I am going the solid roller cam route now, with Crane lifters...
