Default 382 all-bore installed and dynoed!

Got the ARE all bore installed on my A4. car dynoed 398.6rwhp through an unlocked pi3200 and 469.7 rwtq. nick at ARE said the car should be around 425rwhp in an m6 so maybe with an open cutout and a locked converter maybe I'll get some more hp. I had the MTI R1 cam 232/236 .574/.578 114 cam. k&n fipk,85mm maf, 42.5lbs injectors,Speed inc 4l60e race prepped tranny, eradaspeed rotors and hawk pads all installed at the same time and dynoed with 3.73 gears through a moser 12 bolt. I will be going back for the billet fuel rails with braided feed and return lines race filter fuel pressure regulater with a custom Speed Inc sheet metal intake and a sumped drag gas tank. The oil pressure is low but I am going back soon. I also got the BMR k-member and upper and lower a-arms. I would like to thank Tom,Larry, jim,Dan April and everyone at Speed INc. I have gotten every single thing for my car there and They are the total best. If you have ever been there and seen the amount of customers going through there and calling there you'd know why they are so busy. I will break the car in a bit and see if i can squeeze some more hp out of this tq monster.

Oh yeah, car was dyno tuned at Speed Inc. timing was dropped a bit since the car was built with studded main and heads since the motor was built for a 300 shot. car could of been leaned out a bit but kept it on the safe side for some daily driving so I don't see why I can not get some more rwhp and some more rwtq out of this little 382.

congrats on getting the car together I'd put money down that the car would put down right around 420 RWHP with the converter locked. The Vig 3200 converters seem to consistently be good for 18-20 RWHP locked vs. unlocked. Next time you dyno, have them lock the converter on one of the pulls. I would like to see how much TQ the engine is really putting out (eliminating possibility of converter flash). Hopefully you'll pick up some more HP with break-in miles.

Let us know how it does at the track.

MTI put one of those 382 All-bore with stage III LS6 Heads and the R1 Cam.. I used to have a A4, it dynoed at 434 unlocked through a PI3200 and 457 locked up. So yes, the converter is a 23 hp robber.. (A locked converter is NOT like a 6-speed) After I converted to a M6, my car dynoed at 480.. So locking the converter on the dyno is NOT a accurate measurement when comparing it to M6

For some reason the 4L60E takes more power than we know..

Here is the link to the dyno sheet..

thanks, after the engine and trans break in I will dyno as well with the cutout open and the converter locked up with the custom sheet metal intake. I hope to get around 425 rwhp. who knows maybe i'll get some rwtq as well. the n20 will go on later this summer after I break in the engine and dyno it and test it at the track. I got to take car of this low oil psi first of all.

like they said......an A4 will be faster but the m6 will trap higher. also depends on driver. cool <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Did you dyno with a aftermarket lid on the car as well? I have heard of people losing power with the FIPK.
Best of luck with the new combo!

I know they are lucas injectors mellow yellow. I'll have to ask Tom at Speed INC

yes!! as a matter of fact I did dyno with the FIPK. I have been wondering why the low rwhp. the power band is awesome it stays real steady from what the dyno sheet shows. the low end torque is crazy. I will be back in a few weeks to speed inc and see what I can get out of the custom sheet metal intake, open cutout and a locked up converter. wonder if putting the whisper lid back on would help?

thanks, I wanna break it in a bit and then see how much more I can get out of it with a little more tuning a locked converter, open cutout, Speed Inc custom sheet metal intake, bigger fuel rails, braided feed and return lines Speed Inc Sumped Drag tank, fpr, and a 420lph inline fuel pump. I know it won't be much hp if any but i know at the track I should see some good times with a 200 wet-shot.

Thats great first numbers.
With some tuning and locked Vig I bet u see 425RWHP/455RWTQ...

From what I've seen u will gain HP but lose alittle TQ once u lock up the converter. It should really shine on the street and at the track..

Good luck...

I think the rwtq on the car is pretty good, I wonder what some of the other guys with all bore 382's are putting out on the dyno.

Nice torque but the HP seems low. I'd expect 430rwhp unlocked.

thanks Terry, I am expecting to hit 430 rwhp with a locked up converter open cutout and the custom sheet metal intake. i will most likely swap lids if possible to see what happens.

I also forgot to mention that the timing was dropped for the 200 shot of n2o so I know if i would of raised the timing I probably would of gotten the hp I was looking for. I will be back @ speed inc to get the fuel system upgraded. I have been driving around breaking the engine in nicely and the power on the car is tremondous. I can break the tires loose at almost every speed I have tried when I floor it.

I run the car on motor more than I spray it so I might have to get ls1 edit to adjust the timing when I run on all motor or use the n20.

If they tuned it to run on the jug then yes you will pick up power N/A if they raised the timing.

Those are great #'s, however I am curious why ar eyou only putting out 390-410 range from a 382 all bore with H&C when people with stock bottom end on a 346 CID with just H&C are putting out nearly 450 to the wheels? Something seems wrong with that ARE setup to me. But again this is just an opinion.
