Default How many of you have a H/C daily driver?

I as just wonderin'. I'll probably be doing the G5 cam soon, with computer tuning and such i figure it will have decent drivability. Just wonderin'

I do.

I can't tell you how the heads/ cam'ed A4 cars do for daily driving. But I'm sure it's not that bad.

Peace,
Craig.

Mine is my daily driver and my only vehicle for the most part, Tomcat has been good to me so far with upwards of 7k miles with the heads/cam It all depends on the setup of course, my car is in full street trim with a mild package, but I know a lot of guys go much more extreme and still drive their car around on a daily basis.

I will eventually. If I could just make **** stop coming up every week I'd be able to get a cam and go . Ah well, lookin at about 1.5 months out.

I do. Never had custom tuning on the car, been through four cams so far and all have been just fine on the street.

Mine is a daily driver as well. Still have some ignition and fuel issues to sort out. But it drives nice when the ignition doesn't act up.

I do and my gas mileage didn't change much either if I stay off it. No heads, just cam. And no programming yet

I do. Every day. Heads/reverse split cam/nitrous/Yank ST3500. Drive 15k miles per year. 15 mpg city 21 hwy. This is my 2nd heads/cam LS1. Key to daily drivability is in proper tuning and cam selection. Also, don't skimp on valve springs...get good ones.

I put about 18,000 on mine a year and I drive it everywhere. It's my one and only means of transportation. Patrick G said it though, it's all in the tuning. Good luck with it and remember sometimes simple is better. If I had it to do over again I'd go with a different cam instead of the hotcam.

Patrick, what do you consider "good" valve springs? I'm researching getting a h/c setup for my car but I don't know enough yet so excuse my ignorance.

i have cam and headers with custom programing. i also drive the car 6 days a week (i usually find a day that i dont drive the TA) but i dont drive much distance. i have one of the largest cams on the board (230/230 on a 111 LSA) and it is not too bad. with my moser 4.10 gear i still get 24 miles a gallon on highway trips. i love the MN6!

I drive mine everyday. MTI X1 cam and Stage II LS6 heads. With some good tuning, you'll be fine.

I would consider the Crane 99893 dual springs to be absolutely outstanding. After running them for a year, they showed very little loss in spring pressure. At 1.46", they need special machining done to the heads and clearancing to the underside of the stock rockers. Other than that little prep, they're gems!

Mine can be considered a daily driver. I have other cars, but no driveability problems.

I think heads/cam daily drivers are about as popular as lids and catbacks. Our cars love heads/cam as daily drivers!
