I found a longer crank bolt at an Ace Hardware store, any hardware store should have it. It didn't look the same though, it has a smaller head and I got 2 washers, so that it would be as wide as the stock one from the top.

Just oil will be fine but be sure to get it inside the cam too all good and oily! remember when you start it up your engine will have no oil in it at all for a little bit untill the pump pumps it through.

for the pan you need to drop it as much as possible. I never put rtv on my pan when I put it back on and it never leaked. if you wanted to be safe I would put a bead on the front and the back. as for the puley when it goes back on, I heat up the inside of the pulley with a torch and then line it up on the crank and put a 2x6 over and whack it a couple times with a hammer, it almost seats itself all the way on. then just tigheten it down.

concur on the pan. loosen all the bolts as much as you can. The pan wont fall off the k-member is in the way. The gasket seals it you really dont have to worry about it.
You'll use some rtv in the front where it mates to the front cover just as a precaution when you put the front cover back on. The pick up tube bolt is a pia to get back in. You need to reverse your hand like you were facing backwards.
