i have a comp 224 which is very similair. i opted for the 112 because whats the point in getting a cam if you cant hear it . i have pretty much the same mods and i love it so far. top end is noticable better. i can pull away from my buddy in a 6 speed a little .

112 supposed to make it more lopey. if you have cats on, i dont think you would ever notice the damn cam imo. its pretty quiet. in loud traffic and orps i can barely hear it. however, its loud at nighttime

112 was better for me in my personal case becasue I am an M6 and will need no PCM programming, A4's sometimes "might" just have a difficult time with a 112 but nothing that a little throttle body plate hole could not fix.
Another good reason for choosing the 112 is that it reaches its powerband sooner in the RPM range so that you dont have to rev to the moon.
People will argue this one out but its a matter of preference, from dynos, the 112 looked like it peaked out around 600 rpms sooner than the 114 but for an A4, I would go 114.
You cannot go wrong either way, they both kick ***. Maybe someone can chime in a little better or you may want to do a search because there are THOUSANDS of 112 vs 114 cam questions "especially T1 vs B1".
Good luck.

thanks for the replys.

Im looking into the following cams : Thunder 224/224 112 & 114. as well as MTI's B1.

well as far as performance goes it looks like these are all about the same with different power bands. Which one SOUNDS THE BEST?? or a better way of puting it would be which one has the most "dragster" like idle and is the least sleeperish???

i got the 224/224 .563 114 cam from ls1speed which is similiar to the TR224.

You definitly know its in there even with the 114, hell at 750rpms it sounded like a BEAST. But i had to bump my idle to 850, drill the hole, and turn the set key once just to get it to idle half way decent. You will have hell with the 112, but it can be made to work

114 is the choice of A4's for idle reasons

Default some questions Thunder 224.224 112...

ok guys heres yet another "best cam?" thread.

my mods : Vig. 32000, LS6 intake, Dynatech LT headers,O/R Y-pipe, ASP underdrive pulley., lid, and some other little bolt ons im probably forgeting.

I was looking into a Thunder 224/224 112 or 114 whats the difference between the two? as far as sound and performance? Does the 224/224 cam sound pretty wicked at idle? or is is kinda sleeperish....(the more wicked the better IMO).Im planning on GTP stage 2 heads later but dont have the $$ for them as of now.

thanks, Justin

If you have programming the 224-112 idles like a kitten @ 900rpm as long as your IAC count is between 30-40. It pulls better down the track better than the 114 and you can shift @ 6600 for maximum ET rather than 6800.

If you drove my car you'd want the 112 it's a bad mother

I didn't know Vig made a 32,000rpm stall - that must really pull hard

i have a 112 and an auto. it idled perfect. only problems was when i let off the gas too quickly it would flood the engine and die. i dont know if that was from running rich or not a big enough hole. if i sat there at a light, it wsa fine though which makes me think it was just too much fuel. i had general cam tuning though. i sent it back in for a few tweaks and will see how it works out tomorrow.

So, the 112 has more of a lope to it than the 114? I want a cam that has so much lope that if i turn on the AC the car turns off, i dont care if it robs me of horsepower , i just want it to sound badass. anyone got any suggestions? haha, im jokinga bout not caring about HP of course, but is the 224/224 112 more lopey than the 224/224 114 ??? thanks

yes, the 112 is a lot more choppy than the 114. the 114 idles smooth compared to the 112.

I have the 224 112 and love it. The graphs Ive seen there hasnt been much, if any, difference between the 112 and the 114. I went with the 112 to have the lope. It sounds very good through the Hooker LT's and ORP. I highly recommend it, especially with the GTP heads you plan on in the future.

my 114 loped like a mother at 750 rpms

now its pretty smooth at 850

ive heard the 112 and 114 and the 112 isnt MUCH more choppier.

but ill still reccomend a 114 for a auto car and 112 for M6
