Default I can't find a Freaking Shop to do my H/C install!? Little Help :(

I've found one shop who wants to charge me $1700 to do the install. I think this is a little steep

I've called three other shops and they keep givin' me the run around and NO quotes

Anybody have any referrals in state?

How about general quotes?

that seems really high the shop doing all my mods at once is charging me $150 for gears and $699 for installation of:cam, springs, pushrods, asp underdrive pulley, slp longtube headers,y-pipe,magnaflow catback so i would say that you are really paying to much...i am supplying all of the parts just paying labor if i got quoted $1700 i would never have done the work and would have

Check out SFFBA.com, it is the local club. There is a guy that goes by BlueballZ in the club he has done quite a few h/c packages (including mine) VERY reasonable rates.

MTI in houston did my cam install for $350 w/ dynos numbers. 1.5 years later my friend and I did my head install costing me 2 pizzas. It was not hard at all and a good learning experience. It's nice to know what was done with the issues we faced. We probably did a better job ourselfs then 90% of most shops. My 98 LS1 block currently has about 40% '02 LS6 parts on it.

'02 LS6 rocker arms (probably the same as the LS1)
'02 LS6 stock intake valves
'02 LS6 stock exhaust valves
'02 LS6 valve seats
'02 LS6 ported heads, valve covers, & coil rack
'02 LS6 intake valley cover w/ LS6 pcv system
'02 LS6 lifters, lifter guides
'02 LS6 rocker arm bolts & rocker arm rails
'02 LS6 intake manifold
'02 LS6 multi-layer head gaskets

Another shop is Elite Race Cars located in Ft.Pierce. BlueballZ and MechMan are closer to you and they know there **** as well And like Richie said Norris is also a great shop Mike is a pretty cool guy .

Katech's runnin' a good price for Stage 2 but I have no idea which cam to go with Suggestions?

Also, TTPerformance has got this:

Stage II 5.7L LS1 Heads ($1800 + $400 Core Charge) Include:
- Ferrea Competition Valves (2.02"/1.57")
- Comp 918 Springs
- Machined Locks, Valve Guides, and Retainers
- Set Valve Springs to Cam Lift
Comp Cams Camshaft (Duration @ .050: 212 Intake / 218 Exhaust) (.522/.529 Lift) / 114 LSA: $400.00.
- Comp Cams Camshaft (Duration @ .050: 218 Intake / 224 Exhaust) (.527/.534 Lift) / 114 LSA: $400.00.
- LS1 Hotcam Camshaft (Duration @ .050: 218 Intake / 227 Exhaust) (.525/.525 Lift) / 112 LSA: $375.00.
- ASA Hotcam Camshaft (Duration @ .050: 226 Intake / 236 Exhaust) (.525/.525 Lift) / 110 LSA: $400.00.

I'm lookin' for mid-range and top-end power since I'm gonna get 4:10 gears
