destroyed thunder cam
8 pistons ruined
16 valves bent like L's
3 lifters destroyed
1 thunder cam mangled, to the point 2 lobes where sheared flat.
All in all its about 6500 fix for me.
1 timing chain and gears destroyed
Well I am getting it bored, honed, blue printed and balanced for my new JE pistons. I bought jesel rockers, shruebak lifters, double roller chain and all new bolts and gaskets and bearings. It really sucks. But at least it will be pretty bullet proof when I am done. My question is my new pistons are already notched and I need a new cam. Whats the best cam I should go with. I got clearance because there notched so my milled heads are no longer a problem(or are they). So whats up cam junkies, whats the latest and greatest. Thanks
Sounds like you will have her fixed the right way.
Now, for the cam call Thunder racing they will hook you up with the best cam for your Hot Rod. Tell them Coach sent ya.

How many miles were on your original timing chain?
Glad you are putting things back together right.

5500 miles or so on the chain. I had the dowel pin slip out of the cam around 3000 so I had to open it up and when I did the bolts were half way out loose!!! So I applied some serious locktight to the bolts and the dowel pin and replaced the chain while I was there but I was a bonehead and put a new stock one on. On a side note had no trouble with the bolts or dowel pin with the locktight. Was fun getting the bolts of again with that locktight though!

Seriously, what are your goals? With a built bottom end you could go for a nice single pattern with good drivability and then spray it for the big power.
