Here's some info on the dampner: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...hreadid=149997 I wish it was a tad bit cheaper, because I want one. Does this thing actually help at all?

Hey, that is my setup in those pics. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> That is a 98 block which had the holes already there. My shop is working a 01 or 02 (can't remember which), but it did not have the holes for it.

Ya, I looked at some old pics of my 2000 block.. no holes..
So.. '98 For sure.. No luck '00-'02
Anyone have a '97?? '99?
My mech felt it wouldn't be hard to drill the holes, FWIW.

the damper will bolt on a 98 and older block with the parts supplied in the kit. the kit also has a template for drilling the holes in a newer block

K, looks like 97-98.
Better Q might be, why did GM design the LS1 originally for one? They must have known there were vibration/hopping off problems or something.
As I've broken a chain before, I wouldn't mind one.. It does look like cheap plastic..
Q.. How hard to tap the holes for this piece into the block ourselves? Shouldn't require a machine shop, eh? Anything to be careful of when tapping into the block??
