I've already spun it to 6600 rpms ~8 times since the install of the rod bolts and everything is ok. Now, the 10-bolt is suffering.

Thanks for making this a sticky, I barely noticed it today.

Dont need to for a cam swap. I would spin the stockers up near 7k though.

so before i put the new (out of a wrecked car) motor in my car should I change rod bolts? Its a 2000 motor and I plan to spin it to 7. Im just afraid of messing something up doing this, ruining the integrity of the motor. Thanks in advance fellas.

If you have the motor on a stand, it makes the install so easy. You plan to rev to 7k, so I'd say do it.

Project Dc2: The swap took me a total of ~16 hours from the time I jacked the car up to the time I fired her up. Keep in mind this is the first time I've attempted this. With a write-up, I'm pretty sure the time it would take someone to do it would be significantly less.

1baddls1: It is possible to do the swap without lowering the K-member, but you'd have to pull the engine. Since I don't have the tools to pull the engine, I chose the lesser of the two evils.

Just did another rod bolt swap last weekend and it took considerably less time than the first time I had done it. I started it at ~2pm and finished ~12am with a break here and there. So, it took ~10 hours from start to finish this second time around. All work done by myself. As you can see from the pics, it is a lot of work so be prepared for a lengthy install. Eat plenty of banannas for the potassium content, you'll probably get a cramp or two on your hamstrings during the install.

Have to give credit to brad8266, it's much easier unbolting the compressor and tieing it up somewhere.

Krab: If you had the tools to pull the engine would you go that route or would you still remove the K member? Which is more work; the K member or the engine?

Any problem holding the engine up under the bellhousing? I'm gonna be doing a k-member swap and dropping the oil pan. I'm kind of worried about holding the engine up from there. It doesn't seem like it would be too stable. Did the engine/trans ever feel unstable?
