After Cam install
ive always ran full synthetic since ive had the car but I know regular oil is better for breaking in new parts, i just did a full cam install should i run regular motor oil for a few hundred miles than switch to full synthetic or just fire it up with synthetic? thanks ahead of time!

Just fire it up with your normal synth. oil. Don't forget to go through 2>3 heat cycle on the springs before going high rpm.

yea i know the ring seating process but im just wondering if it would be harmful to run some cheap oil for like 50 - 75 miles after then change it, ive heard you should change oil like 100miles after install but i dont think doing a 55$ oil change and it lasting 100 miles it worth it... or can someone explain that 100mile oil change statement or is that just hear say? i definitly want to do synthetic always but i guess im asking all about how soon to change after cam and Why? THANKS all for the replies so far, keep em coming

When I did my cam swap, I changed my oil too 100 miles after the swap, and yeah, I did spent the money on the usual synthetic oil just to toss it out again after a 100 miles. I figured, I spent all that money on parts, I am not gonna skimp now to risk breaking any of those new parts.

That is just hear /say. I change my oil upon completion of project and that is it. Also switching back and forh from synth to non etc... that is not a good idea.

I'm going to be putting a Lunati cam in in April. The want you to change the oil & filter after the first run (2000 for 20min, 2500 1min, 3000 1min, then back down to idle in 500rpm increments held for 1 min. to idle).Sound like a ring breakin/seat procedure to me , but thats what they say. The also want you to change the oil & filter again after 500 miles. Then after a total of 5k you can use synthetic again.
The instruction (destruction) sheet is also kind of generic (hydrolic, solid, roller flat tappet. Maybe why the breakin is so ****. Couldn't hurt.
