Default 224R vs 228R

Both cams from Texas Speed. 224R specs in at 224/224 of course and .581/.581. lift.

228R is 228/228 and .588/.588.

Id get either on a 112 LSA. Originally I wanted go bigger than the 224 because I didnt want to have to go up again later. So I was looking at the torquer 2, but this is also my DD so I thought the 228 might work well.

224 is proven. I know that. But what's the difference in power levels here? What rpm do each peak at? Any big difference in driveability?

I'm having the 228R installed this Saturday, but originally I was gonna go with the 224. They both peak at 6300 rpm's, but the 224R starts at 1400. The 228R at 1600. I wanted to go big with like the MS3 but my car is my daily driver also. Ls1's are not big on low end torque thats also another reason I chose to go smaller. I can get back to you after my install on saturday and let you know exactly where it peaks.

I have the 228R. I am very happy with it. I had the same concerns as you and decided to opt for the the 228 over a bigger cam or a 224.

The car drives great. The power is a marked improvement over the stock cam. I think you should go with the 228. With a good tune it drives great.

There is going to be very little difference between the two. The 228R will make 5-10 more rwhp over the 224R, peak a tad higher and hold peak hp a tad longer. I would go for the 228R, with a good tune it should be very driveable.

this may be slightly OT, but I went to the site and found this:

TSP XS Series Camshaft:
233/239, .595"/.603" 114* LSA (my choice)

any good for a future turbo car?

I would go 228, I have a 232/236 on a 112 and it drives like stock until I hit half throttle. Its a perfect daily driver. The 228 will be a perfect daily driver cam.

Thats not an optimum cam for a turbo car due to overlap and reversion with a turbo. It would work ok with a blower though.
