Default Can GM rod bolts be reused?

That's my first question. If they can't then this means that all of the rods that had their bolts removed would need to be replaced, correct?

Secondly, when NEW rod bolts are used, ALL of those pistons getting NEW rod bolts MUST be resized, correct? This is no ARPs website for their rod bolts but it makes perfect sense for any new bolt of spec. If you use a NEW rod bolt you increase the clamping force of that bolt which can affect the bore if the new rod is not resized to the stock bolt.

Service field practice is to replace any torque to yield fastener with a new one, GM says this is ok w/out rod resizing, but that is for stock motor applications, if your motor spins higher than this becomes less acceptable.I would like Performance Machine shop input on if ARP bolts distort stock LS1 rods when swapped in? Anyone?

Be on the safe side, replace the head bolts with studs and rod bolts with ARP hardware. Might as well since your there anyway and give yourself a bit more insurance.

We checked my rods on the Sunnen with Katech (A-1 products) rod bolts. No problem, no resizing required

I'm as cheap as they come and there is NO WAY
I'd reuse the stock rod bolts. They're not even suitable for bolting your kids backyard playset together

Are they now OK, or would it be wise to use the ARP rod bolts when upgrading to a H/C package?
