thread lock on rocker bolts?

Default thread lock on rocker bolts?

A friend just did a cam in his corvette and didn't use thread lock on the rocker arm bolts. He just torqued the bolts to 22lbs or whatever.

Was he supposed to use thread lock? If so should he fix this immediately? How big a deal is it?

Most people do, but many don't and have no issues, so don't worry about it.

If you don't, it'll all depend on how you drive it. More or less, it will burn "some" oil.

It would only burn oil if it has heads ported far enough that the rocker hole is visible thru the intake runner. It will not burn oil w/ stock heads. I personally never use loctite on mine, the bastards are hard enough to take of w/o it.

Is it thread lock or the white pipe dope stuff (teflon?) that should be used

thread lock . . . . means "lock tite" . . it's a red or blue liquid that hardens

The tape is only for pipe threads
