I did a search and am more confused than before. I am doing an engine rebuild, and the stock one is out . So now is the time to put a different one in. Down the road I want to put on a LS6 intake, but probably not now. I have a manual trans, and 2000 cast manifolds. I want it to be streetable, but I have no idea when it comes to cams.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would consider Thunder racing 220 on a 112* if you want no ses light for missfire codes, or 224* if you want more power and dont care about SES and emissions.

you will get alot of pinion's on cams from people (we all think our cam is the best)you need to find your own needs.do you want a lunpy cam, a semi lumpy cam or a quiet cam? now what power and rpm do you want? you can go with something smaller like a 2001 zo6 cam or 218/218 these cams will idle nice and give about 20-25 hp.or,220/220 cam still nice with alittle more power.you could go 222/222 cam,all these cams are streetable.for you i would stay 222/or under, the 114 lob will idle alittle better then the 112 cams.i have the 222/222 hammer cam, next year i'll be going with the 224/224 cam. choose your own needs and remember cams like HEADERS alot. john campbell's web page has a seccion on cams, check it out. GOODLUCK TO YA.

Thanks! I know opinions very.... I wouldn't mind it to be a little lumpy. I just don't want it loading up at stop signs and dieing. I saw there is a group special on comp cams. $329 sounds like a good deal. I know I can't have everything I just want some more power with out major derivability problems. I wish I could put headers on but there simply isn't room. The engine is in an 87 GT Fiero. I had to fabricate my own custom manifold for the back as it was. Just was wondering what others have tried, and not had problems with.

well if this is a ls1 motor, alittle more power and only alittle lumpy.i would go with either the 218/218 114 lob or 220/220 114 lob. i've heard both cams in cars, they both sound almost the same, good on the streets no major drivability probs. the 220/220 will give a few more ponies, the 114 lob will make the cam idle alittle more smooth. i hope i helped ya, goodluck.

Yes it is an LS1
I am leaning towards this one it is on sale at speed inc. For $339 like I said I really don't know cams, my stock springs should be able to handle this one right??? and yes you have helped
Emissions friendly cam, smooth idle, good powerband
Lift: .563/.563 Dur@.050: 220/220 LSA: 112 114

i got the 224 .563 114 comp cam from ls1speed for mine and love it
since you're rebuilding i take it you will be doing 918 valve springs, chromemoly rods, timing chain, and oil pump right
those really need to be done wioth any cam.. well the timing chain and oil pump are hit or miss

I have Comp 918's , titanium retainers, and chromemoly pushrods. I rev to 6500 on shifts and put about 5K on these springs without a hiccup. I have a 218/222 .562 .562 cartek cam.

Oil pump yes. I was afraid I was going to hear that on the rest... That would be $229 more Hmmm yes it is out and disassembled so that is why I am thinking the cam at this point. just spending allot as it is. I did also see the GM hot cam package for 399. It came with LS6 springs but no pushrods. I hadn't decided on the chain... Yet it did look tinny, but the engine only has 500 miles on it, so it is fairly new. I am trying hard not to get cheap now, but it is hard with the other expenses.
