Default Lighter Alum ATI Super Damper affect on engine?

What would all of the effects be of a lighter Aluminum ATI Super Damper on our LS1 engine? Let's say OEM size damper. 2.5# lighter than stock.

Rev Faster?
Less bearing wear?
Longer engine/crank/bearing life?
Stronger damper, less chance of coming apart?
Effects in low and mid RPM's? They said it was designed for the LS1 power band and engine. I forget benefits, but they show from 3k+ supposedly.

Reasons it'd be better for a Supercharged car?
Minimal if any HP gains?

Would less rotating weight cause an MN6 to bog more on the launch similar to an aluminum flywheel?

Any +/- I've missed?

Some data:
http://www.atiperformanceproducts.co...rs/dampers.htm

Shows comparison vs. other high-end dampers but doesn't show it's superiority from 2k rpm+ vs. the OEM damper. Wish we had that comparison.

No HP gain but you'd be NHRA legal!

Looks to me like the fluidamper does a better job stopping vibration. The ATI is worse than the fluidamper from 5900-6900rpms, and only beats the competition above 7000rpms, which is above the rpm range most of our cars operate at.

I'd like to see a ATI to stock, ATI to ASP compare.

How about:

Why does the NHRA care? Safety?
Bearing life vs. stock damper?
Engine life vs. stock damper?

Don't be fooled by cheap foreign copies that look a little like FluidamprŽ or StreetdamprŽ and are even advertised as "Fluid Damper". These imitations are not manufactured to Vibratech's exacting tolerances and are not backed by Vibratech's exclusive money back guarantee.

Vibratech's evaluation of these viscous damper imitations has shown an inadequate fluid fill, making imitations less than effective at controlling crankshaft vibration. They are inappropriately packaged, which could cause damage in transit and rusting. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Caveat emptor, like they say.

I wonder about the quality of the one in the eBay auction. I realize that it's not a true Fluidamper, but according to the description, it is SFI approved, and not just anything can get an SFI sticker on it.

This may be a less expensive alternative to the ATI unit... Maybe not...
