How about a 6.0 LS1 Escalade motor with a T1 cam and LS6 heads?
I was thinking about this combo and I want to know if it could be a decent cheap combo. Start with a Cadillac Escalade 6.0l long block, use a T1 or Thunder 224 cam, along with either stockish heads or LS6 heads. Would that be decent? I know the block is iron and its heavy, but it would put out about 30 more hp then a comparable 5.7 I would think, right?

But you'd need to make about 80-90 horses more to make up for the extra 80-90 pounds that the 6.0 weighs over the ls1.

or add 80-90 HP for 800-900lb.

Dont think it would be worth it.Most LS1 H/C setups are now making 1.45HP per cube.
Figure 1. 1.45HP x 346CI = 501HP
Figure 2. 1.45HP X 370CI = 536HP
35HP ist gonna compensate for the extra 75lbs..
Just my opinion.

Actually we know in reality an LS1 is putting out about 360-370hp, so that already tops the Escalade 6.0. Only advantage it would have I'd imagine is in the torque department.

What if those are also putting out much more than rated at.
After all is said and done I think both engines are VERY similar obviously and its a matter of preferance and what youre planning on doing, ie: spray or stroke.
