Default 6.0 bored .030 or .060-stock rods & Crank

Would this be sensible?
Does somebody make a piston that would fit this application?
Just trying to make a budget engine?
Any advice is appreciated!
And yes you are more than welcome to call me an idiot!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Thanks,
Dave

My friend did this combo with a 4.020 bore. You would need to heat treat, balance, and polish the crank. That and a set of arp rod bolts. I would go with the 4.060 since you are going to have to order custom pistons. Ross or JE can do them as well as any other piston manufactuer. Those are just the two companies that I have dealt with. Ross's web site has a calculator to figure out displacement also. He put down 452hp 429 lbft with an m6 with a 370 ci with 11.2-1 comp.

Give Diamond Pistons a call. We are going to have these on the shelf in just about 2 weeks or so. They will cost $570.00 for the set with wrist pins included. Give me a call at work if you have any questions.

I assume the rotating assembly will need to be balanced. What about rings for these pistons? Any other parts needed?

I may be headed down this road in the near future.

Thanks

In my opinion you would be better off going with a .030 over bore. I say this because the few extra cubes you get isnt going to make that much of a difference hp wise. Some one correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the max you can go is .060. If you go that far and you break a ring or something the block is no good. I'm not sure how thick the cylinder walls are on these blocks but you could also run into overheating problems if they are too thin.
Just my $.02

This is what I will be doing. 6.0 block bored .030 over using stock crank and rods for a 370 cid all bore. Not sure why you guys are concerned so much with balancing and polishing and all that. The stock crank will only need a slight polish to clean up. I guess you could spend the extra $ for balancing and all that, but not really practical unless you plan on high rpm, which makes no sense if you are staying with stock parts?

I am only going to bore 30 over because I will also spray my combo with a 150-shot. I just need to buy some parts. Money is scarce at the moment <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

BIGTEX - These piston are a direct replacement for the 6.0 liter engine. I will also be offering them in a few other P/N's. You will need rings for the new pistons. You will also have to rebalance the crank if you use over sized pistons.

Thanks,

I would go .030 over for the reason of being able to rebuild it again. I dont know how thick these blocks are. I know back in the day a .060 over 350 block wouldnt bother me but a .060 over 400ci block would. If they are thick and your air fuel is right on then I wouldnt worry about it. Go with .030 to start with though.
