Default Head Gaskets for Ms4

Ok, i'm going to be putting an ms4 in my car soon. I was wondering instead of flycutting could i just get a thicker gasket and be done with it. Something like a .074 cosmetic gasket, that should give the the clearence i need. Spoke to Jon at tsp and he said if he remembered right the avg. clearance is .67 on intake and .88 on the exhaust. I think the factory gasket is .056 or something close so that should bump it up there to safe standards. I know i will be losing compression, but i will also lose compression if i cut the pistons. Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks in advance

Don't worry about changing head gaskets at all. We've sold & run hundreds & hundreds of these camshafts without any clearance issues at all. Just throw that thing in & enjoy her!

lol, well i hope you are right, cause i really don't want to screw a 13,000 mile motor up! I have all the supporting stuff for this, including a double roller t/c. So i'm hoping all is good with it.

Its a lot easier to measure it instead of immediately pulling the heads.

Default Flycut them!!

I would check the PTV clearance and flycut the pistons if you are too tight.

It's not hard and I think .074 gaskets aren't the best setup. A tight quench will help with knock.

The guy that posted P/V issues in the other thread was using a thinner head gasket & the cylinder heads have been modified from stock. Just install that thing in your stock long block & have a blast!
