231/237 vs 233/239
you guys that have one or the other, how does your car drive? what kind of power did you make?
im considering those too along with the F13-14 or maybe even a G5X2 for the goat. any info would be useful. thanks in advance.

i had the 233-239 but had milled .030 AFR 205s also. it sure pulled up top had ok bottom i DD it and never thought twice. once you hit about 4k it pulled to 6800 easy.
now that i got TQ (thank you 402) its way funner to DD. the TQ makes it funner and easier too.
i think if you worried about DD it you should maybe go smaller or do a set of heads also to bump your CR to get some bottom.

I'm running 231/237 112+4 lsa w/ Patriot heads ls6, 59cc, 2.02in/1.57ex . making 418rwhp/389rwtq . it's not a DD but, I drove it every day for two weeks before I got deployed so with that said. I love the lopy it has and a little ruf idle at times. for me I could daily drive it, some might not. will depend on what your willing to talorate. hope this helps....

well, im on a "budget build", so im gonna have to run a meaty cam to get the power i need. im thinking 243 heads for me.... LTs, CAI, cutouts (to help keep the noise down when need be) cam & tune. maybe a UDP. i just need enough cam to get near 400rwhp

The car I picked up came with a 232/238 .595/.605 112 XE-R cam. It's got a bit of overlap (11* I think) to give a nice lopey idle. With my ported 241's, I put down the numbers in my sig. I would always like a little more torque, but can't complain as this thing pulls.

I have the 233/239 and love it, I daily drive the car 80 miles a day. It stumbles and stutters and shakes at stoplights but I love it. It would occasionally stall when coming to a stop before the tune but after the tune it stopped that and doesn't surge half as much anymore. If I am correct TSP stopped selling the 231/237 so unless you find a used one your choice got much easier. I made 406 rwhp and 379 rwtq cam only in my 02 Z28 so your goal of 400 is attainable without the heads.

i have the SI5 231/237 589/595 lsa 112+4 by speed inc!!
my car is a 01 z28 m6 and dynoed 418rwhp, 392 rwtq with a paper fram filter
without the filter I dynoed 431rwhp and 404 rwtwq.
350rwtq at 3000
I also raised my rev limited to 7200 and shift at 6900
car has all bolts, but is cam only, on stock heads.
as far as driving and performance I love it. the cam makes power down low under the curve which is great for driving and really slaps you in the face in the higher rpms.
My car is not a daily driver not would I want it to be. Its too race car feeling now!!! as stated above some might like it for everyday, some people may not. The cam is very lopey and sounds like a race car. hence another reason i dont drive it everyday day. COPS.....

You should pick a cam with plenty of low end grunt, it's not going to be much fun if you have to wait for the power specially when it takes a bit to get there.

heres my biggest problem... my car is a DD, and im afraid if i go to big its gonna frag (its happend before) but i want 400rwhp sooooo bad. i know of a few guys with smaller cams (224ish) and heads making over 400 but i think the most ill be able to drop for heads would be a set of ls6 heads. good news is, ive been talking my g/fs ear off about my cam selection and the more sound clips she listens to and the more "motoring around" we do, the more she seems not to mind a big lopey idle with all that power. (she says donuts and "the rockford" are some of her favorites, they make her squeal like a little girl) i am going to run stock cat-back with cutouts (laugh if you want) because i like a sleeper. this should keep noise to a minimum (when i want to ) and ill be able to uncork for more power and noise. any more thoughts?

Assuming you have headers/exhaust/intake get a Comp XE-R 226° .585"/230° .592" 110° LSA +2° 108° ICL. You will be knocking real hard on 400 rwhp and rwtq with stock LS6 heads.
