Default cheaper synthetic?

ive always ran autozone or advanced auto oil in my cars because i buy them used with higher milage. my TA had 60k miles on it before i bought it so i dont even know if its had sythetic in it it's whole life. i was woundering if anyone knows where to get cheaper syntetics than they have at autozone. they dont have any off brands. im an off brand guy and think that it can do the work thats required. my motor is a little older anyway. i think changing the oil on time is just as import. what do u guys think? since we are suposed to run synthetic, should we stay with the best? my car is a DD.

You don't have to run synthetic, alot of people (including myself) just prefer to. If you want cheaper oil and change it every 3k or so just run a good non-synthetic. One of the reasons I run synthetic though is because I only change it every 5k or once a year, whichever come first. So it really doesn't cost more and I don't have to change it as often.

You bought a nice car not a beater quit being cheap with the oil it's only a few bucks every 3-5k miles. How much is your engine life worth?

It will run for quite a while on the cheap dino stuff but why??

Motorcraft Synthetic Blend is a very good alternative. It performs better than many synthetics based on earlier reports I've read.

I used full syn in the Corvette because I track it. My wife's Lexus gets Motorcraft. You can get it at Walmart too.

If I wasn't running the vette to the limit. I wouldn't hesitate using the MC blend.

That kind of schedule is great and I'm sure your engine appreciates it.Simple maintenance goes along way to keeping the inside of your engine clean.

I change my oil once a year........... One truck has 271,000 on it and doesn't burn any oil or leak. One truck has 243,000 on it and runs the same. The other truck has 55,000 on it and its just like the day I bought it...

How?

Amsoil. Once a year or every 25,000 miles......

The cheapest, best oil change in the world...

i liked amsoil, but when i ordered it online they always gave my number out to the closest dealer. then the dealer would call me and want to talk about their new products that i could care less about. do they still do that?

Wait until advance auto has there buy 1 get 1 sale on Pennzoil Platinum...Its a good oil and it comes out to like 2.89 a quart when you get it on that sale. It'd be hard to find a better oil for any cheaper than that.

That's what I was just about to post ............. it seems to happen at least twice a year around here.

Walmart SuperTech synthetic has had quite good reviews from various oil analysis labs. It's dirt cheap and works great. Otherwise, stick with Motorcraft or another brand name dino oil. Like said above, as long as you change it every 3-4000 miles you're fine. Synthetic is truly meant for a longer service interval life.

And once you add up changing it every 3000 miles, plus all the filters, you'll have spent double what you would have with a real oil you'd onlyu have to change ONCE a year.........

I would NEVER wait 25,000K miles to change my oil! Maybe one year, but about 6-7K miles max on any oil.

But, that is just my opinion on how long an oil can properly lubricate a motor...

Well, its a good thing Amsoil uses data and not your opinion then........ I have 270,000 and 245,000 reasons not to believe you....

They pretty much all come from the same two or three refineries, then they get a different bottle/label........

Amsoil and Mobil 1 are the only two that stand out...
