2000 SS Tear Down & Re-Assembly with pics. Project is a 2000 Camaro SS A4 with 3700 miles on the clock.
Dropped the subframe today. First one for me. Took about 6 hrs not making a disaster in my garage. Followed the How to Build High Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s tutorial by Will Handzel. Walked me right through it, only a couple of things I would question through the process, like removing half of the interior to get the two pigtails behind the PCM - took 2 minutes to remove the kick panel and there they were. Mine would not pull far enough out in to the eng bay to disconnect. Also didn't know why he mentioned to unplug the oil pressure sender, didn't need to the whole eng bay harness came out with the engine with the sender still plugged in.
I would recommend the book, great reesource!
Now to the mods. Planning on installing AFR 205's @ 62 cc's, Cometic .040's, ported FAST 90/NW 90 TB, ARP rod bolts, custom cam, Kooks 1 7/8" hedders, Magnaflow Cat back with custom 'factory' appearing twin tips, FLT Level 5 A4, Yank Pro 3400, Moser 9" with 3.70's, BMR SFC's, BMR C.M. torque arm, BMR C.M. LCA's, N-motion timing chain, SLP oil pump, Yella Terra ultra light rollers, PCV mod, what else......that's all I have right now. Been collecting parts all winter, project was a little delayed. In with both feet now. Looking for 11.80's.

I went 11.51 and 11.55 at high 116 mph

What made you decide to take the engine out? It seems that you coud have kept it in with the mods your doing. It's making the rod bolt install a bit easier I guess?
lol it would actually make the intsall of EVERYTHING easier
but you do have the added difficulty of putting the engine/tranny back in the car but still if I had an extra car to drive I would do it the same way....

Yes the rod bolts will be much easier this way.

for some reason i think id have a hard time tearing it down with such low miles... lol not that it wont be a nice car afterwards, but iono somthing just doesnt sit right with me on this one lol
i could understand 37k miles but, she just broke in..
congrats on the build tho! hope she puts some good numbers down!

Thanks, it really helps having the equipment. I wouldn't consider it without it. This is not the easiest hot rod I have owned to work on. Hopefully, it will be worth it!

thanks for the pics. this is the exact thing I plan to do when I do my cam and blot ons. I have the same book too. Thats where I got thinking about it. Good luck with the build
