Default Patriot Cam: Any thoughts good or bad?

Iv seen a few videos on youtube of cars with a patriot cam. They sound pretty good but Im more about the performance.Would the patriot cam be a good udgrade or would it be better to spend an extra hundred bucks on another cam. Id probably go with the 226/226 112LSA. with a set of heads either the
PRC LS6 CNC Ported Heads or PRC 220cc 5.3L Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads. from Texas speed. As you can see Im trying to put together a budget head and cam package but if they wouldnt work together I would keep searching for better upgrades, but mainly right now Im wondering about this cam,is it worth considering Id be fine if my budget head and cam pack got my 380-390RWHP. I have a Yank 3600ss stall. All Mods are in sig.
If any1 can post dyno numbers from the cam or track times b4 and after Id appreciate it.
Thanks, Jon

Patriot sells excellent budget parts. If its the correct size youre looking for, why not save the cash?

Yeah,I hear alot of talk about there heads but not much about their cams.Just wondering if anybody is happy with the performance gain from them. Wouldnt a 226/226 go good with a 3600ss stall?

And why is that? What should he expect to gain by going up a mere 2 degrees in duration? Where does the torque check in on both cams and what about peak HP? Which cam will make more overall avg HP and TQ?

If your going budget then talk to Gunnar and go Patriot all the way. He might cut you a deal, you never know.

That is a good cam, with heads and a thin gasket .045 it should make 420+rwhp tuned + bolt ons.

Yeah Im in that process now of asking questions.now sent him an email earlier. Thanks sounds like you got a real nice set up

I dont see me making that much rwhp but it would be nice to be close to 400rwhp then spray a 125-150shot to get me to 500.

With that cam and heads you are going to make over 400. I think Predator is right

I could see you making ~380 with that sized cam alone. I dont think 420 is a stretch for ported heads, tighter quench and higher compression.

There are two of the same setups being built here at a local shop including my new one. It consists of a 228/228 113 lsa with afr 205 heads. All the supporting mods like fast 90 nw tb, pulley, longtubes and of course a tune. The first car was just tuned and it made 449rwhp and 418rwtq.just another idea for u to think of, good luck with the build and keep us updated with dyno #s and track times

IF ur talking about this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8JYqKfz1xc
Then thats me agianst my buddy, but he returned the favor the following weekend. He spun just enough in that race that he couldnt make up for it on the topend. Aslong as i was ahead in 1st gear he couldnt pass me...the following weekend we raced and left dead even thru 1st i pulled a lil in 2nd (like a foot) then he came around me in 3rd. He got me by atleast 2-2.5 lengths, maybe with an LS6 intake i might have stayed closer...I love this cam its a great performer and sounds way bigger than it is. At the track with the stall and cam i lost nearly a full second, and thas on a mail order tune and stock LS1 intake.

hers a video of me at the track vs. my buddy with the Torquer 2 cam
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku8cLrHBTcs
I went from running consistent 13.7-8 to running a best of 13.119 that night leaving the line at only 1400rpm..against the MS4 i was leaving about 2600rpm...The cam has alot of potential and as soon as i get an LS6 intake i will get it dyno tuned and post some numbers. In that video he went 13.155 at 108 and i went 13.215 at 103

well my 13.7's were with all the boltons on street tires and a slipping tranny (A4) and 1100 launches (no stall) so if u did 13.7 stock then u should expect way more out of it....we are at 3800' elevation and the DA usually sits around 5500..stock A4 LS1's are low 14 seconds cars here.
