Default put cam in, now sounds super charged

i have an 02 six speed ta, and i have full bolt ons minus ported throttle body and udp. now this weekend i just put a torquer 2 and patriot 650 dual springs and harden push rods. now here is my prob, im kicking codes. I am getting p0106 and my tcs light goes on and off. i have been reaserching the tuneing forum and this seems to be a common thing after a install, but now my car seems to whine like its supercharged. and at first i thought i had a vac leak because of the map sensor code be thrown. but from what i have always been told vac is strongest at idle, but this prob seems to match the rpms. i have felt all my vac lines and everything is good. now i think the map code and my tcs prob are because of needing tuned but what would make the car whine. but would the whine maybe have anything to do with the whine. Def stumped here any help would be great. thanks

Well i am having the same problems with my TCS, it just goes on and off on its own, and my car has been tuned. I still have no clue on what could be making my TCS act this way, not even the button works when its acting up. The whine sounds like you should check out your power steering fluid, i know if that goes low when you turn the car has a slight whine to it.

I noticed the same thing after my cam swap. At idle you cant hear it, but it becomes noticable at 2000-3000 rpm. I have no clue what it is either.

You lost me right here. Superchargers are usually a loud whine. Are you sure that it isn't valvetrain noise like a sewing machine? Do you have the right length pushrods?

This is what your issue is with the TCS. Read this from Hptuners site.

no its not the power sterring was my first guess. but topped it off and still whines. and i know the whine from a super charger is loud but this whine my car has isnt a little noise its not untolerable, im just saying because of the map codes i thought i had a vac leak but im sure i dont because it matches the engine speed and doesnt really start till 2,500 rpms. what ever it is the cam started it i was just wondering what it was and if it is bad. at the start of this thread i was clue less, last night i took everything apart and checked all vac lines, and they are fine. and i am still consistenly throwing map/baro ckt and sometimes rdm misfire, and only once tps. but i pretty sure thats all taken care of with a tune. but still no clue what makes it whine of even if i should worry. but its kinda annoying.

Is it maybe just the whine from your intake now that you are pulling much more air?

who ground the cam? I had a comp cam in my car that sounded like it was supercharged.

the code needs to have its parameters changed in hp tuners or efi live. Just make sure that nothing else is wrong before you go ahead and have it tuned.

this is the main reason for me being worried, dont want to drive all the way to get tuned to hear, sorry its broke cant help you. and its a comp torquer 2 i ordered from tsp but its does sound around the intake, but when you put your ear to the lid you really cant hear it. But if its not a prob it just the computer being crazy and the whine is something to do with the cam sucking air im good with it. but you know the thought is always in the back of your head saying the worst

thats what i was thinking. I know an over tight timing belt will whine, but i wasnt sure if a new chain would produce the same noise. I know some double roller chains in muscle cars make a supercharged like noise, so i guess it depends on the chain you installed.

Do you still have your AIR pump connected, try pulling the fuse see if that does the trick.

Yes, The VCM doesnt understand position of the TPS sensor compared with the MIN/MAX MAP value (Bigger Cam). You need to have the MAX map value set to 100kpa and the min to 0kpa. This will disable the test and you should have no more TCS issues if I am correct. You and the OP should get this checked.

Never had a double (or single for that matter) roller chain make any noise.

Gear Drive style timing chains typically make the noise you refer to - and they make both 'quiet' and 'noisy' versions. The noise comes from the way the gears are cut...

Air/vacuum leaks don't normally sound like a blower whine either.

What brand timing chain did you install?

Have you changed your oil pump at the same time?
