New Heads in and Need Help
I just got my Patriot Ls6 Stage III heads in. The guy i bought it from said that i could run these heads on a stock cube ls1. He said that the intake valve would be shrouded by the cylinder wall but the heads flow so much that it wouldn't hurt it. I think that if i put a thick gasket in the heads that i shouldn't have a problem. These are the 2.08 valves milled to a 59cc chamber.
Or should if get the engine bored?

When I talked to patriot they told me that the stg 3's were meant for a bigger bore mainly a 4in. I was told that the same port work went into the stg 2's the only difference being that the stage 3's had a bigger valve. I went with the stage 2's on the stock bore. because they told me there would be to much shrouding around the intake valve and the stg 2's would work better for the street.

only problem now is that i got the Stage IIIs and now im stuck with them. I didn't really think much about the valve size when i was buying them. Do you think they would work if i had the engine bored?

I have a guy that will sell me some 383 cid dished pistons for $350. I am having a hard time getting rid of these heads so i might just got ahead and bore it and get the piston set.

You can use those heads on your stock bore block. Using a thicker gasket makes no difference...if the intake hits the cylinder wall it will still hit it with a thicker gasket. Take a stock head gasket and lay it over your cylinder head with a couple of bolts to allign it exactly and you will be able to see aproximately how much clearance you will have to the cylinder wall. I would go with a custom ground cam over any the shelf no matter what the situation and in your case i would think it would be the best way to make sure it will be good with those heads

The stage II head is better suited for the stock bore bottom end. Even going to a 383 is not going to change that much because the bore will only be increased to a 3.910". Another down side to using a stage III on a stock bottom end is the decrease in PTV clearance. With no valve reliefs in the pistons, the 2.08" valve dramatically reduces your clearance. This really knocks down the size of cam you can run.
