LS1 Build in progress. Any opinions?
I pulled my motor out of my c5 because the tranny was being rebuilt. I figured since I upgreaded the tranny and went with a stall that I might as well freshen up the motor. Did I make the right choices? This is what I went with thus far.
I put new chelvite 77 cam and rod bearings in it.
New Ls2 style timing chain
melling 10296 oil pump
I drilled the lifter cups and upgraded to 02 lifters that were inclosed.
ls1 hotcam
5.3 heads with larger intakes cut. Comp valve train and 1.8 stainless roller rockers and hardend pushrods.
28.8 lbs injectors
ls6 intake
my goal was to build a fairly stout motor that would be reliable too. are there any weak points I should take care of now while I have it apart?
thanks
Jeff

1. ARP rod bolts, head studs, main bolts or studs
2. Port and polish the Throttle body or get a new one. Example: BBK, holley, fast, etc...
3. Since you have it apart and are replacing bearings, do the mains with clevite 77's

I didnt want to replace the rod bolts because I was told if I went with arp that I would have to pull the rods out. If I placed arp bolts in them that they would be thrown out of round and they would need to be honed. any advice? In how to build a hp ls book it stated that the 99+ years had good rod bolts, rods and pistons.
