The seat cup ID is probably too small (or possibly the wrong size). Measure and compare to the guide OD of our head. If it's close (less than .010 different) it wouldnt take very long with a grinding bit or sandroll to get there.

You could always call and order our seat cups. They would fit the spring (and our heads) perfectly.

The bronze guides probably require a .565" spring base. The ones that come standard in our kits are .505" (to fit the stock guides). Just give us a call and we will be glad to swap them out for you.

On the subject of AFR Heads and springs .

Does anyone know what brand springs come standard on the AFR 225 heads that have the upgrade .650 lift springs ,Part#8019?

They look like Pac springs though ?
Are they as good as patriot golds or should I upgrade for my Turbo 408cube ?

You'll have to ask AFR. We've made springs for them in the past, but I don't know which exact heads they go in.

Interesting question, I wouldn't mind knowing this either (for the 205's). Have you asked Tony?

The 8019's are our proprietary "upgrade" springs that have been simply stellar from a reliability standpoint as well as producing power and keeping valvefloat in check.

IMO, they are "arguably" one of the best hydraulic roller springs on the market....period.

Hope this helps...

Tony

PS....Our standard springs are also excellent and have had a very stellar track record as well, but the upgrade spring is a better choice for rock solid valve control at high RPM's....especially 6500+.

If your building an aggressive combo (or ANY boosted combo) step up to the stouter 8019. If you have a milder package like our 224 cam or even smaller you dont need all the extra seat and open pressure and would be in fine shape with our standard spring.

BTW, all the 225 heads come standard with the 8019's....no need to upgrade when you purchase a 225

Thanks,
Tony

so Tony... i've got an Comp Cam XER lobe 224/224 114 '.581 cam... will your 205 springs work well with it? or do you suggest putting some patriot gold springs in it instead, as i've got a set of those...
