Default Lifter dimples

One one side of the lifter body there's a little dimple that appears to be for oiling. I beleive they were facing up, can someone confirm that?

Do you mean the oil port on the side of the lifter? They can't face up or down, guess I don't understand your question.

Yes, it looks like the oil port. They have to face either up or down. They are parallel with the plane of the roller.

looks like they may go down. The block has oil galleys on the bottom of the lifter bore.

I wonder if these have been built in 90 degree differences? I found many people saying it doesn't matter and a few saying facing front or back. I took pictures which I'll post later that show the oiling port clearly in plane with the roller meaning it can only face up or down. No matter, the port is always exposed to the recessed area which makes up the oil galley at each lifter. I placed them down as this was in direct proximatey to the oil galley in the block.

I didn't try to put them in any special way, I think either is fine.

Btw, did you get new lifter trays? You can get them from sdparts.com for about $4 each.

No, that's one part I never saw on the lists of things needed. My motor barely has 10k miles on it so everything is virtually just broken in.

Hopefully we'll be able to light it off tomorrow...Thursday for sure.

You're good with low miles. My 110k mile lifter trays were very loose on the lifter.

Good luck with the start up.
