Is the stock crank good enough?

I have a set of eagle 6.125 H-beams and Diamond blower-boost pistons for the stock stroke, mild thunder racing blower cam and 300 CFM Absolute speed 241 heads.
I should make 650RWHP at 15 PSI with my D1. I was thinking on going 382 and a callies compstar 4" crank, but then i would have to change my whole combo.

So now that i am sticking with the stock displacement and stroke , do i need a forged crank like the callies 3.665 compstar crankshaft , or is it a wast of $

The crank should be just fine. There are plenty of people making that much or more on a stock crank.

Yes allot of people push them to this limit with great results. Thats the good thing about forging a stock block that it doesn't cost that much when reusing your block and crank.

I tell you what, I guess GM and Lunati did something when designing our stock LS1 crank .. Especially to hold a 1000 rwhp I dunno if i would trust it that much or not ..

I hear the same thing , i just feel weird about using the stocker, i could get a compstar 3.625 for $950 , it is another grand but the insurance would be there, i just want to get this show on the road already and its costing more than i thought.

I remember reading a thread about a turbo car that made something like 1100 on the stock crank and they finally replaced it because it was flexing with that much power. Thought it was in the staff car section but now I can't find it.

Heck, LME offers forged 347s with the stock GM crank. Although I'm sure there's some prepping that goes into it, polishing, deburring, magnafluxing, etc.

I have seen this also. But if you can afford it get one!! If you break the crank its going to take out almost your whole engine!! Pay some now or possibly pay alot more later. My 0.02

O yeah , I will also be running a DM performance LS1 bottom end engine girdle with custom ARP main stud kit.,
The Girdle stops block flex and cylinder wall distortion , keeps main caps inline.

Yes, LS1-LS6 blocks have made way more power than 500HP and stayed together , i am going to be running a DM performance engine girdle , This girdle has been on LS1 blocks making 1000 hp

oh hell yeah, there are people making 550hp w/ cam and heads. New rods and pistons should be all you need. Save that money and spend it somewhere else. If you're that worried about it, buy an LSX block instead and build it.
