U know what i forgot i added the 85mm lid and Maf combo and half shafted my half saft on my throttle body that is probably worth at least 10rwhp all together...so i would say the cam added upper 50's to 60rwhp...because i compared when i was stock internal 116mph to now 123mph with the same DA...

So edit cam added around 60rwhp...

Thumbs up

Very good result there Chris - congrats. The proof is in the pudding and shows that Predator-Z's cam recommendations are excellent and well thought out. I'm going the way he's advised a bit later in the year.

Cheers,

Macca

I am looking for a good streetable cam to put in my forged 347 with stage 2 heads. Can you give me some more info on the cam and where to order it from. You can pm me info if you want. What kind of tune did you get? I am going to be using a yank 3500 stall.

Chris is in Illinois, Speed Inc is in Chicago area. Any good tuner will do, by good I mean professional that does VE tables, cracker tables etc.. not just adjust WOT fuel.

I talked to a guy that has the 230/224 cam that you recommended to me. He said he got a mail order tune from TSP. He's running low 11's-high 10's and says it idles at 750rpm.

I will start off with a mail order tune and get it dyno tuned later on.

LoL, that is what I do

There is no good tuner here, so I get Allen Nelson to base tune for me and I fine tune with HPT. I'm getting better with time. I rarely use dynos, I purely street tune, datalog, tune, datalog, well you get the picture.

I'm thinking of taking a EFI 101 class to be able to do it all myself

sounds good enjoy the cam make sure to do the stall before the cam because it needs to be broken in with 150 miles of town driving...then throw the cam and intake in and get it tuned all at once...that is what i would do...

Chris, are you saying that it isn't a good idea to throw it on the dyno with a fresh tq. converter?? Is this for the health of the converter or just that it will show lower numbers? I will have the motor out for a freshen up & I wasn't planning on pulling the heads back off to change the cam.

DO NOT!!!! run the converter for the first time on a dyno,Yank converters NEED to be broken in with at least 100-150 miles before going full throttle.Do the converter first, drive it at least 150miles ,then do the cam and have the engine tuned and the trans shift points changed at the same time.We have always broken in Yanks and have never had a problem between Chris and I,We are on our 4th one between the 2 of us.IM his dad.

Well, maybe I can drive the car around for 100-150 miles before I get it tuned & just not go WOT. I'm gonna have the motor out & apart and I don't want to pull the heads or transmission after I just got finished putting it back in 100-150 miles ago. Think it would hurt anything driving it easy without a tune?

i dunno if i would drive a car without a tune, probably gonna go threw some o2 sensors...So you are pulling the trans and motor...ic...awe i would just see if a shop can down load a basic tune for you that will get you by for a week or so until the converter is good to go, then go back in for the full dyno tune...i definitely wouldnt go WOT with a new YANK converter...hope this helps bud...

I appreciate the help & sorry for the thread hijack. I failed to mention that this converter was bought used & I sent it to PTC & had a new hub put on. They checked it out and I don't think they did anything else while they were in there. I'll call & ask them Monday morn. & if they didn't do anything else I should be good to go right? Since it isn't a new converter?
