Default Just sent cam spec sheet to PatrickG...

I read so many posts in the last two months about cams. I have learned alot about them but decided to leave it up to a pro so we will see what Patrick G comes up with for me. Here are my current and future mods for my 01 WS6 M6.

Current: Edelbrock shorties, LM1, Ported TB, K&N, SLP lid and bellows, BMR torque arm w/ trans mount reloc., BMR LCAs(chromoly), BMR strut tower brace(chromoly), SLP subframe connectors(welded), Eibach prokit w/ KYB shocks, 315 nittos, hurst billit plus, centerforce 12" DF clutch.

Going on with Cam: PRC stg 2.5 5.3l heads, chromoly pushrods(whatever length PatG reccomends), ported oil pump, LS7 lifters, LS2 timing chain w/ sprockets, cometic .040 head gaskets(should give around an 8.6 or so DCR), new head bolts and gaskets, March UD pulley, ZO6 MAF, BMR panhard reloc., BMR adjustable panard rod, QTP longtubes, true dual over the axle setup, custom dyno tune by Cunningham Motorsports.

Future Mods: Moser or Midwest Chassis 9" w/ 4.11s, FAST 92/92 combo, eventually a better clutch.

Anyone have any opinions on expected power?Maybe 1/4 mile predictions?
Or maybe somone has a setup close to this...I welcome all opinions...Thanks guys!

My prediction with about a 228-232 cam is about 420rwhp.

The fast intake is a good intake but I think its overated and you could save around 600-750$ if you jst got an LS6 intake. Hell that will pay for a cam.

I picked up 27rwhp with an unported Fast 90/NW90 setup over the LS6 intake and ported throttle body on my old car. Final unported numbers in sig.

Well my car is the 01 so I already have the LS6. Im not sure if I will end up doing the intake later or not...just depends on my HP and how the car feels when completed.

The lifters I am getting from Scoggin Dickey and run a little over $100. I am replacing them because I will be revving higher and want to replace them while I have the motor apart...LS7s because they are made for higher revving and are great for the money.

Those are some nice numbers. My car is a DD and if I can have it around 450rwhp when done that would be great that why im not going with a huge cam. I am gussing PatrickG will spec a 228-232 duration or so. It will be plenty fast and if its not fast enough I plan on picking up a 98 or newer Z28 and making a track car.

Come on, N/A your car is begging for a 90/90 or a 92/92 combo. With your setup Pat G is gonna spec you a screamer! I bet you will be more than happy with it. Just out of curiosity what RPM are you wanting to run it to? Obviously if your looking at ~6800 or up a fast intake would really shine.

I respect the fact that you went this route instead of posting a poll for which cam to get. I just don't understand why people do that with all the distinguished cam grinders/designers available.

FWIW I think your HP projection is good. I dynod 463/409 with a 228/232 cam FAST 90 and TFS heads on a Mustang Dyno. Good luck!

Regardless of the cam size, even on a bone stock motor, a fast 90/90 will help. I have a friend with a 2000(?) SS that is pretty much bone stock except for an air lid, a cutout and a tune. He was running 13.30ish in the 1/4 mile, added a fast 90/90 and ran a 12.50's after getting retuned. Looks like a solid gain to me.

It would be great and if I find a good deal on a used one I may pick it up. With everything I am putting in the motor and the exhaust and tune I am putting about five grand in my car in one shot so the FAST would just be too much. Also I am not planning on going past 6500 or 6600 because its a stock shortblock.

I appreciate that...hpwever I have to be honest...I did that before too. After reading post, and running a million searches I put all of my numbers together and found that a custom spec cam would be about $65 extra than an off the shelf and I would gain 10-20 rwhp with the same drivability. I have paid much more for less hp.

Nice numbers...If I can be in that area I would be more than happy
