Default Camshaft!!

I have an 02 automatic trans am. LTheaders, ORypipe, SLP cold air flowpac, 85mm MAF, 85mm AIrlid, custom exhaust. Next up is a cam kit and a torque converter. I want a cam that will go with a 3600 torque converter. I want this cam to help me more at the track with my launches. I want a nasty ****** idle, pretty obvious that I'm cammin. I ask "knowledgable" sources all the time but from every source I've asked, theyve all told me the totally opposite. From SLP sales represenatives to comp cams to speedinc.com, etc. What do you guys think?

Kinda in the same boat. Confused on which cam to get. Leaning towards the Magic Stick 3. Just didn't want anything that'll shake me to death.

You guys understand that with a big cam you'll need tuning right or it'll run like ****

Yeh I understand. My plan is to get a 3600 stall with a cam that suits my needs and get it tuned all together.

tr224, tr227, tr230 or a custom cam with a 3600 stall should be good . . . ms3 and ms4 is way too much IMO, do you really need to go up to 7k rpm????

MS3, MS4 and Trex are BIG cams. They make great power for sure but they also live way up high in rpm's, are not what most consider streetable at lower rpm's (even with a good tune) and they would work better with a 4000-4400 stall then a 3600.

I would stick with a nice medium size cam. TR228, F13, Torquer 2 or 3, ect. I think any of those cams would match up better to a 3600 stall and make city driving a lot more pleasurable.

try something in the 230's range...you will be happy, the ms3 and ms4s dont ahve much gain or what i have now for the drivability...my sound is cammin but nothing too crazy...just another option to the MS3...

If it were me I would go custom. Find PatrickG and in hos sig he has a link to a page. Fill it out but be sure you know what you want. You will need head cc's, SCR, valve sizes, head flow numbers ect. But he will spec a cam for what you want. It costs $25 and total out the door with the cam you will spend just over $400 but you will have the right cam and not have to worry if the Torquer2 or M3 or MS4 or TR230 will be the right one for you.Thats my .02

remember going with a big cam, might not be so great for daily driving. i would say an MS3 would be the biggest i would go.
