which cam for my M6? C-1,C-2, or TR Reverse split??
asking for a freind on another site: looking for a good all around cam from the choices i have here (C-1,C-2 or TR 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA reverse split). I will be running stock heads and all bolt ons. I daily drive the car and it does see the track. i will not be having gas on the car. soo if you could help me out that would be great. thank you

My vote for the C1, but then again I'm biased.
You can't go wrong w/ the cams you listed, though I'd look into a single pattern TR cam, like the TR224.
Also, what find of idle quality are you looking for?

I've read in a few books that having more duration on the exhaust side can make up for the weak stock exhaust ports, by allowing more time for the exhaust gas to be released.

I'm putting in a TR227/224. the exhaust on the LS1 is great if you have LT headers and a free flowing exhaust but the intake is the whole bottle neck of the system so i wanted a little more on that side to help it along some. there has been good results w/ the Reverse split. Jason99T/a dynoed I belive 400 HP to the wheels w/ stock heads,TR227/224, and 4.10's in a 12-bolt. if your gonna stay NA then mayeb think about the Reverse split. but never can go wrong w/ the TR224 single pattern.

Why did I say C1? Look at my sig. Makes great power, is a little easier on the valvetrain (.566 vs. .581 lift), and has a decent chop.
C1 is great street/strip cam.
Either way, a tune is in order to get the most out of any of these cams, so drivabilty issues would be hammered out w/ a good tune. Lots of people have run fine w/o tunes also. It's a crapshoot (mine needed tuning). Enjoy!

I would take the C1 over the C2 also because of the lift; that .581 sounds like a spring killer to me. The fact that the C2 idles a little better than the C1 even though it has more duration tells you it has some very steep ramps, another spring-killing feature. If he wants a 224 duration tell him to go with the TR224, otherwise C1 cam.

i'll vote for the TR reverse split.
all of the cams you listed are good cams. i went with the tr230 because i liked the horsepower it makes while still having a pretty flat torque curve (i have 350rwtq from 3200 to 5700). the car did not drive very good at all before the tune. now it drive pretty well. starts up fine cold or hot. the idle is also not that bad. it's choppy, but it dosn't ever die or surge. good luck with the setup

My vote is C1 as well. Good torque all thru the powerband. My car is a daily driver and I have no problems with it at all. It has a nice lope to it, I have had lots of people comment on the sound even through my "quiet" Random Tech. catback.
