Default Rod knocking question about fixing it

Well i jsut bought a 98 Ta and it has a rod knock. You cant hear it till about 2k rpms the car has not been driven at all. The oil pressure reads fine when its cold but starts dropping as it gets warmer. I was wondering if its possible to leave the pistons in and drop the crank out from teh bottom get crank checked and do a oil pump and new bearings and then just roll out. Im tryin to save money. I was going to either get another ls1 or do a 6.0 block swap but if i can get away with just fixing this one this way id love to do it and just do some bolt ons and save money for a house.

I'm not sure about that but call up advance auto. They sell an entire crank with bearings and all sized to fit that crank and stock rods for like $247.

its clearly a rod. it does not do it at idle Does it at 2k rpms and gets louder the higher the rpms get. And gets louder as car gets warmer. And oil pressure starts dropping at idle the warmer it gets too. I can try to get a video. But what else could it be doing that? Everyone i have talked to or let hear has said its clearing a rod knocking.

what does your oil pressure drop to? Replace your oil and filter, see if it helps, cut your filter open and look insise. See if you're drain magnet has any metal on it. If it has had a bearing go you will see pieces of it.

it sound like an oil pressure problem,if its dropping that much.A rod nock will always make noise even at idle, and will sound like someone hitting a big pot or kettle with a rubber hammer.I would recomend replacing the oil pump and new o-ring to see if pressure comes back to normal.Low pressure will make the lifters clatter.

im going to pull the wires off one at a time to see if it stops. it really sounds like its up top. I have built engines and heard rod knock but i have been building imports for 10 years. So just tryin to get some helpful info. Im going to drain the oil too and maybe change it just for a try.
