Default Best combustion chamber size w/ TR224

I'm planning on adding heads and I'm definitely going AFR 205s (Cali legal) but I'd be lying if I said understood what I needed to worry about when it comes to compression ratios. I know they come 66cc and I figured 62cc would be safe, but in searching I've seen some 59cc. So with mods in sig, what should I go with and if I eventually want to add a procharger (5-7 psi max) how much should I account for that.

I did try searching but really couldn't find what the best compromise chamber size is.

I'll be adding heads to and I am very interested as well. I have the tr224 112 cam.

If you are going to procharge it, leave them alone. You want lower compression with forced induction.

If you want to maxemize your set up N/A. I would mill them to 0.030 with a stock GM gasket, or mill them 0.024 with a cometic gasket. The 0.030 mill gives a 61cc chamber and about 11.0 :1 compression.

I went with the 0.030 & stock GM gasket. My #'s were right where you are (382rwhp/370rwtq)and I got 432rwhp/403rwtq after the heads.

You are at the point where you really need to determine what you want to do in the future. If you are going FI then you want a big combustion chamber to keep CR down. If you aren't going FI then you want a little combustion chamber to bump compression up. You really can't do both. Ask yourself seriously, are you ever going to go FI? If you answer that, you'll pick the right head.

Most people's "eventually" mods don't happen for years. If this is the case with you, you are better off getting the heads milled for a higher CR. Then when you actually get a blower, sell the heads and get new, lower compression ones. There is no point in running a 9.xx:1 engine for a blower that won't see any action for quite some time.

Tony Mamo Suggested to me, 62 cc for 91 octane with a .040 head gasket.

im running 59cc heads (patriot Ls6 Stage II) and Comp 224 .581 112 lsa. C/R is around 11.5:1, FAST 90, full exhaust and putting down 443/402, no flycutting, stock bottom end, etc...

i dont plan to ever go FI that's why i went w/the smaller cc chambers...

Thanks all great information. I think I'll definitely take the advice and stick N/A and set the CR for that and worry about the heads if I ever actually go FI. So I'll probablygo somewhere around 59cc - 61cc. If I get over 430 with that, I'll probably be pretty damn satisfied. Awesome stuff, this board is the best!
