Crankshaft ????? Help me decide...
Ok here is the deal guys. The motor im building is a 370 inch 6.0 block, the crank is a stock 01 ls1 piece, rods are Bme alum. 6.100, pistons are weisco flatops. studs and ls6 oil pump. The top is l92's ported "mildly" , gmpp single plane intake, ls7 lifters and of course a good valvetrain not sure on the cam yet. This is an n2o motor that will see a 250-350 shot thru a double cross plate and 750 hp carb, on a progressive. Race weight is 3350 with a powerglide and 9.5 n2o conv. also 4.10s in the rear.
Im going to try to make 750-850 HP. My ???? is will the stock crank handle it?? I hate to spend $800-$1200 on a stock stroke crank. Most people i talk to say it will be fine with a stock crank, but what is your OP?????
Thanks for all input and info, Heath...

You may as well buy a froged crank and sleep better at night. I'm guessing that you won't be runing a stock balancer, so you will have to key the crank snout. Then of course you have to have the mains and rods ground .001' or .010". After all is said and done, you're saving maybe $300? Hell, go with a steel rod and basically get the forged crank for free!

Stock Cranks have seen 1000hp, not sure how many have done that on nitrous vs forced induction. An aggressive nitrous hit will be harder on the rotating assembly than a gradual increase by boost. With that said, youve got over $1000 in rods, and $700 in pistons - why skimp on the crank? and now you have peace of mind spraying 400-500

I've had alot of the turbo guys tell me there are no problems @ 1000 hp. but n2o is much more violent and that is my real concern most n2o guys just build 402"+ motors so not alot of guys have pushed the stocker with the n2o. This was kinda a buget build but its kinda gettin outta hand.. If anyone runs across a forged crank at a deal let me know.....

well the stock crank is a rolled radius crank like they do to the cummins and cat diesels the cast crank in some cases can be a little more forgivving than a forged one 800hp should be ok tune it safe and don't let it detonate

Well i studied the budget and if i have to buy a crank im in trouble . last year i ran 6.20s with a stock 6.0 with a small cam and a 250 shot!! and they said the pistons would be gone in 2 passes but the stayed there all season. So i guess ill be that guy that finds out what the stock crank limit is in an n2o motor . Wish me luck....

Well the rods are rated at 1400+HP and ive seen weisco pistons handle well over 1000 HP, the block is suppose to handle 1000+ HP with ARP studs. Maybe the lil stock crank will be there for me !! Do you guys think this setup will make 800+or-Hp on the giggle???
