Default Having to replace scarred pistons

I see in the classifieds section "For Sale - 6 good pistons" or 7 or whatever. Will mfg's like Diamond, Mahle, Ross, etc sell pistons indiviually? If so, where do I have to go or who do I have to talk to to do so? If they definitely wll not please let me know so I can get my six good pistons listed for sale.

Thanks for the input

Yes, all manufacturers sell pistons individually. Just call them directly and let them know what piston type, size etc you are looking for.

I know with Diamond it depends on the type of piston you need. If it's a type of custom piston they have to sell them to you in a run of 4 pistons. Like my pistons are the 3.905 bore forged pistons and they run $107.58 each but if I had to replace one of them I'd have to purchase four of them at a total of $430.32. It all depends on the type of pistons you have. Each manufacturer will be different.

I did the same thing a while ago, but bought all 8. Two of them were a little dinged, so I called Wiseco and it was around $80 a piston for a new one. Now, they're just sitting in my garage waiting for a later date.

I'd prefer to buy all eight but I'm planning on going back with the same setup so I really find it a waste to buy 6 more than I really need and have even more shelf decorations than I already have.

By the way, mine are Diamonds and I'm pretty sure they are NOT custom which will hopefully benefit me. I bought the shortblock assembled and I'm gonna have to grab a pt# and call Diamond to check.

I guess I could give the extra 6 to my wife she always complaining "Why don't you ever buy me diamonds?"

I had 6 diamond boost pistons that I was going to put in a 347, tried to get 2 matching replacements, and it was a no go. They had different skirt lengths and what not. Sent the box back, they said they couldn't find a match, and I'd have to buy a new set. Ended up getting a new set from victory racing and ended up selling them (losing my *** of course) and the rest of the project, lol.

Could they not match based on part number? Crap, there is another side of it I REALLY do not want to get myself into.

They said it was a strange revision and they could get me the pistons with a different skirt (shorter), so I'd have to rebalance the whole damn thing since they were off a few grams. Really bummed me out.

Thats awfully nice of them In a position like that I'd rather have the company just flat out tell me I'm focked. Why beat around the bush with options that will put you in an even worse situation
