Mobil 1 dumdumdum.
Well I changed my oil today. It was the first change since my cam and heads were installed. The shop used valvoline, I forgot to tell them to use Mobil 1. The car has a sewing machine sound from the valve train since the parts were installed. I used Mobil 1 with the change today and man there is difference in sound. The sewwing machine sound is still there on start up, but after the car warms up the sound is half what it used to be. You could hear it in the cabin before. Now there is just the sound of the exhaust. I had no idea that oil could make that big a difference in the sound of the drive train. Anyone else had this happen by changing to another oil. I know most use Mobil 1 anyways I guess I know why now.
BTW I had a guy coming out of the food lion that owned a Mach 1 see me pull up in the TA. He stopped me to tell me he had never heard a LS1 sound like my car. He loved it. I may have converted one LOL. I told him I run no cats with LT headers and a magnaflow cat back. I left out the cam part that sould be aparent. Plus he said "he loved the sound of my LS1" not Trans Am so he must something about them.
BTW I am not saying the oil changed the sound my exhaust That would be crazy, it always sounds that way. It just quieted down my valve train.

I'm a big fan of PP, but I'm still deciding if I'm into Lucas stabilizer. I used it on my last oil change with M1. The oil was BLACK after like 2000 miles, so I'm afraid the Lucas might have clogged up the filter and sent it into bypass. Maybe I'm crazy. My thirdgen LOVED PP, so this is the first time for my Z28. We'll see what happens...

After that low of mileage, I was worried that all the gunk that was being cleaned wasn't being caught in the filter. It's good to clean all the gunk, but not so good to have it circulating through your heads.

thats funny lot of people including myself were getting noises like that because of too little oil, and also lots of people running cars putting less than 91 octane, my z did that before when i just got it.....most of us run 6 quarts per change specially if its mobil 1 because that **** burns atleast one quart every 2500 miles so be on it and dont forget......hope it helped

Man I never thought I would learn some new info from this thread. I will put the last half a quart in.
I can't run less than 93 octane or my knock sensor will kick in with my current tune. I go Thursday to get my tune from HPfactory (Sponsor ED). I hope that takes care of the problem and picks up alot of extra RWHP .
Guess I am not crazy oil does make a difference in valve train noise.
BRANDOTRON GET A NEW AVATAR.... I don't want to have to move to Canada to keep the money I work for in my pocket and out of welfare.

I can't go there. Theres must be no work down there otherwise 11 million people would not have come here to work..... Oh Yeah I forgot we have the lowest unemployment rate of any country in the world, Guess someone should tell Barack since that seems to be all I see him talk about.
