Default Best Cam for the most aggresive DD ?

Whats the best cam for a 98 z28 A4 which is my DD. I plan on staying NA for awhile so im looking for the highest HP cam i could put in my car which will have full bolt ons (LT's, Fast intake, Lid, Pulleys etc.), stall (im thinking a 3800), and 3.73 gears. It is my daily driver but i want it to be the most agressive street car i can make it So im just seeing what i should be looking at for a cam ?

well you can put a MS4, TREX, or Polluter in it if you want the most aggressive daily driver. However; its just going to be a more annoying daily driver. I'd say with 3.73's, a larger stall 3500-4000ish that a mid to high 230's duration with around .590 lift on probably a 113lsa would be a good starting point. You're really not going to see the best benefits of a larger lift cam though until you get rid of the 98 heads and go with something that flows better.

What heads would you recommend with going with MS4, TREX, or Polluter ? i was going to do the cam swap first because its easier on the wallet lol and the second thing was going to be the heads.

my car is a DD and i love it....

setup:
Ms4
4000 stall
4.10s
ported FAST 90/90 intake
lid
pacesetter LTs
xpipe with 1 chamber race flowmasters before axle
draglites
weight reduction

car has went a best of 7.5@90mph.. this was in 85 degree weather and was not tunes for the intake or the 410s...

got it tuned about two weeks after the track and it made 385/338..

putting ls6 stg 1 heads on next week.. plan on 420ish/360ish.. i am going to the track in october and with the heads and stuff on i plan on running a 7.15@94ish..

i DD mine about 50 miles a day.. doesnt stall jerk or anything.. and honestly if i keep my foot out of it it isnt THAT bad on gas, but i dont really pay attention to my gas, when it needs it i put it in.

for a DD i would go no higher than a 228 cam with 590 in lift. then i would either go with a 113 to 115 lsa.

as long as you have a good tuner there is nothing wrong with going with a big cam.. hell i run faster than almost everyone i know with H/C setups.. let along cam only.

The MS4 camshaft is definately the leader in max effort camshafts for the stock cube ls1. It uses less duration than any of the other camshafts being discussed while making identical peak power to popular 240/244 cam & 244/248 camshafts. On top of that the MS4 makes peak torque earlier than either of those camshafts.

We dyno test all our camshafts next to the competitors popular camshafts on the same engine dyno the same day. As a results we can see what camshafts are all hype & what camshafts do what they claim.

I heard good things about the 224/228 .581/.588 114lsa. that's gonna be my next cam...within a few months. its got a lot of low end grunt and that's what I want since I spend most my time on the street.

your not getting the "highest hp" out of any 224 cam.. If your cam only your going to want something like a 230s duration 59x+ lift cam

I would go with a Trex and some stage 1 patriot LS6 style heads.

even a good tuner can only do so much. if it's not a track only car the OP should seriously consider a cam that makes good torque and hp in the usable rpm range. when i was looking for a cam i wanted the "biggest" cam i could get. luckily i listened to some wisdom from the vets on here and went with the cam in my sig. it has been a best of 7.37@92 in the 1/8 and pull both fronts about 1 foot off the ground. i have out run more than a few "monster" cams and poorly matched h/c combos. just a thought

My answer to your title is "The one that makes the best average power".

Haven't seen it listed here yet.

228/232 .600/.60x on 111lsa. 32-3500 stall will do just fine. It will be easy to tune and have nasty power under the curve. Trust me!! Do research!!
